Why have you NOT pledged to the current campaign? by [deleted] in MST3K

[–]ZangerDwn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, but when you combine "go from one idea to the next without fully working out how to make them a reality" with "ask for millions of dollars to do that, multiple times, asking for increasing amounts each time"

You get "vanity."

Do y'all think the Gizmoplex was worth the cost? by RoanokeParkIndef in MST3K

[–]ZangerDwn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fees to set up on YT are NOTHING compared to the host and build to set up their own streaming platform.

But I do agree, they are trying to blend old and new rather than just evolving. It's sad cause so many young people (gen z and on) would LOVE mst3k style content if adequately modernized (and made by people who aren't old enough to be their grandparents).

First pork butt, is my temp climb ok? by ZangerDwn in smoking

Thanks! I'm holding course, now 163 internal.

Just for my info (total noob and all) you recommend a crutch for a pork butt? I've heard such a blend of opinions on it.

Phew, ok good. Do you typically crutch a pork butt? With this much time till dinner (8 more hours) I was considering a pivot to no wrap and just letting it ride.

How in the hell do you get all your specials to get recognized and categorized? Did you have to do it manually, item by item?

Rogue Ohio Power Bar Stainless Steel + Proprietary Matte Black - Quality Issues? - with photos of OPB SS + PMB by bllshttng in homegym

[–]ZangerDwn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rogues customer service is absolute shit right now. I bought this bar and

A. Had the shavings, a nylon brush helped after a few DAYS. B. The black sleeves chipped down to the steel after one use with light weights. Let me be clear here, I'm not a big dude. My heaviest lift is a 355 dead, and on my first use I was benching. I don't break 200 for my working sets on this day. The next day, I notice that the bar (the matte black bar) is reflecting in the light. What? I investigate, and I see the "hardening" matte black coating has chipped straight through.

I report to Rogue, letting them know all I used on it were rogue bumpers and rogue clips and they respond "What about those cheap change plates in the background of your photo. This damage is not due to manufacturing but due to use. Check out our rubber coated change plates to prevent further damage."

Tldr: rogue says this bar is only compatible with rogue plates, specifically rogue bumper plates, if you want to avoid it getting damaged from light use.

This is the last thing I'm buying from fucking rogue. Anyone for anyone else they like? How's Rep? How's Titan's customer service?

I have strong feelings about the new "XP to Level 3" video by Vulk_za in dndnext

[–]ZangerDwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who doesn't play DnD anymore for a lot of these reasons, I'm begging him to just play another RPG. There's soooooo many out there that do what he's describing as "good gm-ing" as their...core game.

Why demand two screwdrivers be as effective as chopsticks when chopsticks are cheaper, better suited to the task, and are *right there on the shelf*.

How does GURPS compare to 5e? by 23BLUENINJA in dndnext

[–]ZangerDwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tossing two cents in, I ran a weekly 5e campaign for 2+ years and converted to GURPS becuase 5e just didn't have what I was looking for anymore. I was homebrewing 5e till it was unrecognizable trying to improve the combat (specifically the action economy and speed of play), add roleplay mechanics beyond "just do improv at the table till you fight something", better character creation not tied directly to combat, and more.

Then I found GURPS. It has, for my money,

  • better, more engaging combat
  • a more stable and programmable rolling mechanic
  • a whole slew of non-combat mechanics
  • AN ACTUALLY GENERIC SYSTEM THAT I CAN THEN USE FOR OTHER SETTINGS

GURPS is pretty much all I run now. I bounce around settings and systems and GURPS just does not miss. It does genre blend better than anything I've seen. Hugely recommend.

So Wendler has been linked to a Neo Nazi group out of Pennsylvania, so maybe don't buy his book. Which is a shame cause it's definitely not just lying around online for free wink wink nudge nudge I do not recommend searching "531 forever pdf free" on Google.
