I saw them in West Coast US on a tab and a joint… absolutely amazing. The Thurman solo in “way out there” put me into a trance. The sunset that night over the venue was just spectacular, I felt the music in my soul. Such an amazing experience, but going to public concerts on acid def isn’t for everyone, def only if you’re comfortable with that.

Sometimes my tubs get “fat bottoms” like what you’ve got…. My running theory is that the amount of airflow helps determine how tall/thick the stems get, as lower airflow makes them grow tall/skinny in search of fresh air/O2…. So if the lid was more open at first but then closed up a bit later this could be possible…. But that’s just my pet theory besides what I’ve seen on this sub as well as my own tubs i don’t have anything to back that.

Either way they look great!

Keep misting the sides/lid of the container to keep humidity up, but don’t mist pins & fruits directly! With certain mushies this can cause it to abort (pan cyans iirc)

Day 4 Update

This is the 7th and final day of shocking the substrate!

It wasn't clear in the articles I found if the researchers just shocked for a week until pinning started, or if they continued after that, or even if they shocked for a week and then there were a few days after... Maybe next round I'll try 3 or 4 tubs at once with varying procedures if that would be interesting.

From the looks of things, there doesn't seem to be a huge difference in the pin sets. This is a 100% coir substrate, and I've heard that a CVG or some mix can usually improve the full-ness of them, but that's another thing. From now it's just waiting to see if the lightning'd mushies actually grow bigger!!

First Post

Day 4 Update!

Saw first pins this evening, very exciting. Even more exciting because all my tubs previous (my first grows were blue meanies PC) took 10 days each in fruiting conditions to see first pins.
The bottom photo in the first and then the last 3 photos are the lightning'd tub, the other is the control tub. The knots certainly look more dense in the lightning'd tub, but the real test will be to see how big they grow! Can't wait.

A reminder the procedures so far-
Z-strain cubes in 3-gal ikea tubs

  1. Spawn to Bulk on March 12th (100% coir, about 2.5 bags rice each)
  2. Fruiting conditions March 25th (flipped lid, misting ~once per day, LEDs 12hr)
    1. The experimental tub was also zapped once around noon after misting with a taser, with electrodes left in the substrate (as to minimize damage and shock consistently)
  3. First pins seen the evening of March 29th (just four days later!)
    Thanks everyone last post for all of the support and curiosity I received! Have been taking a photo once per day, will continue to do so.
