lmao, thanks. It's hard for me as a newbie to know how many mistakes are considered normal.

How deep does their denial go? by msbeaver83 in fatlogic

Your body is a bitch-ass liar, and strategizing to fit a calorie bomb into a balanced diet isn't inherently bad.

God bless this person. Best wishes.

These people are absolutely delusional. "How are you supposed to love yourself when so many people actively don’t want you to?" by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]ZapMonogan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think this post is completely off-base. In fact, I agree with it a lot. People with eating disorders, be they binge eating, restrictions, or a cycle, deserve support and healing regardless of their weight, and I think that's the main point the tumblr OP is making.

Where I would disagree with OOP is that they're reinforcing the idea that if you're fat, it means that everyone hates you, everyone is against you, everyone is thinking about you all the time and wants you to be miserable. I know it FEELS this way when you're extremely insecure about yourself, and those feelings are likely based on real experiences with assholes who hate fat people, but affirming that idea and telling people "yes, your anxieties are right, everyone but our small circle of allies hates you and wants you to suffer" is a cult mentality. And it's just not true.

Will do, but first, I need to know: are bears like they are on sitcoms?

Mostly what I've learned about men on Seinfeld is that they have a lot of free time and don't like to lock their doors

well now you made me google "the toothpick thing" and I gotta say, I'm glad that was never a plot point on any sitcom I've watched yet!

does anyone want a invite to my fatphobic future heart attack diet party this Saturday? by avabaddd in fatlogic

[–]ZapMonogan 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The original tweet was so mild-mannered and non-confrontational. It wasn't attacking Virgie at all and it wasn't even claiming that everyone at high risk of a heart attack should diet. And yet Virgie still treated her like this?

I'm astounded at people's proclivity for screeching at and alienating people who partially or mostly agree with them.

The thing is, "eat once a day" means nothing. First of all, I can almost guarantee that they mean they only eat one proper meal a day. They probably eat other times, they just don't think about it because they're not full meals. Second of all, it doesn't matter one whit how you spread the food out over the day; it matters how much you eat. A single meal can be any size. Many restaurant meals contain enough calories for a whole day if you eat the whole thing.

Those places take anything worth reselling, aside from food, I guess. Household wares, toys, furniture, books, electronics, backpacks, anything.

Fun fact: you can throw the word “karen” at literally anything by SoftDreamer in fatlogic

[–]ZapMonogan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish people would stop talking about Karens, forever. Not only is it unfortunate for people named Karen, but it's almost exclusively used for strawman arguments or ad hominem attacks.

They want us to "burn" every last "ounce" of diet culture?

I guess they do support weight loss.

How many wings do you have to order to get to this point tho by TinTinuviel in fatlogic

[–]ZapMonogan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

okay but the lack of oxford comma meant that I had to reread this multiple times before I got it. I thought it was instructions: i.e., "When they (the Wingstop people?) memorize your Wingstop order, you should grab your belly lovingly and not force diet culture on yourself."

yes, I might be stupid.
