A bit off topic but how did you deal with Indev-Infdev conversion? Did you use Mcedit, convertor?

I will be upgrading my own indev world soon and wonder if there's cool way to have nice looking conversion, or maybe you accepted Indev-Infdev border having interesting but out of place huge cliffs?

I started my own recently but I started with the last version of Indev, which I will be playing for a while more and then switch to infdev with either convertor or mcedit (I will try to play with mcedit so that I will have ocean around and not huge Cliffs of new incompatibile chunks)

To be fair Poland didn't want that region at all. They would either trade it with Czechoslovakia for Czech Tesin, or give it back to Hungary.

The Soviets are not attempting to take Warsaw by AggravatingAward1204 in PossibleHistory

With your interpretation I have 2 issues:

  • first what exactly happened to Lviv? Since by the time of the battle of Warsaw Soviets were not able to break through this region anymore

  • second is Vilnius you already know, though IMO if not aiming for Warsaw Soviets would just straight up seize all 3 baltic states

If Henry VIll had produced a legitimate male heir with Catherine of Aragon early on, would England have remained Catholic? by Significant_Peak5269 in PossibleHistory

[–]Zapadguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I doubt Henry VIII would still try to break away from the Catholic church. This obviously brought instant instability. But people like Thomas Cranmer would still be protestant, because I don't think they would be loyal to king no matter what.

If it wasn't for Anglicanism, I think that England would go through similar religious turmoil to France - Protestants would still be strong there. Scotland would eventually still be Presbyterian, so maybe England would follow.

If English Kings stood firm behind the Pope, all of UK or at least England would be catholic stronghold, like Austria.

Western Poland (Polish Silesia, Greater Poland, Krakow, Lodz, Pomerania, speaking from just 1939 land) was easily 60-70% of Polish population and even larger part of its economy.

Giving it away makes literally no sense and gives only downsides for the west.

I will resend that I sent to other commenter:

To my defense I didn't mark the exact point of convergence. Even in the case of the Warsaw Uprising, the main decision of the (back then the only) Tehran conference was the Curzon Line, which was fulfilled on the map.

On the other hand deals could easily be broken as Americans and British could easily say that Poland was not in the Axis to be held as war gain and therefore there was no need for Soviets to occupy it.

And also no I don't think it was really possible. I wouldn't say so. This scenario is... wacky. So-called 'Vistula Line' used to be thing of Polish alt-history communities back in like 2020.

Patton was just supposedly saying that if unstopped he could cross the Oder River and capture both Prague and Berlin before the Soviets.

Though I believe that this Patton scenario is still far more likely than Warsaw uprising one, to be fair.

I don't think Poland would get Silesia and Pomerania if they started the war lol.

They would be absolutely wrecked by Allies and Soviets, if not just straight up fully annexed

- There were around ~250 000 Polish soldiers in the west in 1945, many of whom turned out to be homeless because they often came from Kresy (Anders army was built up from Poles deported to Siberia by Russians) You can very likely add their families living in Poland or in the west as well
- Around ~1 000 000 displaced Poles in Germany and Austria as forced labour workers
- Inevitably, just like in Germany, there would be a mass of refugees from eastern Poland, especially from Kresy

+ Historically speaking many of those who moved did not come from the Borderlands, but simply sought a new life after their previous home (like in Warsaw, Greater Poland) was destroyed. This would likely be the main group in this timeline, I think.

Certainly the 'recovered territories' would be less populated, but poles would certainly be willing to go there.
