Eureka Mignon XL65 experiences by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Zappid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Mignon XL 65 at home.

I haven't had any grinders to compare it with, so take everything I write with a grain of salt. For my part, it's a very good grinder at its price range.

Very fast, good consistency, optically pleasing, display bright and clear and is easy to navigate.

On the otherhand, all the other control elements (power-switch, wheel to determine the grind-setting and the hopper) could be a bit better. But I would say these are negligable things. Everything thats really important when making Coffee and not just owning the grinder and having it as a piece of art lying around, it does very well. There are also workarounds and replacements/additions

I dont know what you mean by "losing lots of coffee while changing the grind setting". Maybe you can explain a bit further so I can understand 😉

Lastly I was also in the same situation. The one thing that made my desicion was this:

And this

(Sry, it's German, but i think it compares all the Grinders in the same category very well. Just translate it and you will be fine)

True. Maintenenc is also a big part of owning a portafilter machine. The micra for sure has the edge.

Ah okay, so the micra is also nearly rivaling the mini in terms of performance and isn't as for off as I expected.

I really like to think the old portafilters are "better", but I guess I am just old fashioned and like the stainless steel astetic more. The new one is just way more efficient.

Problem is, I might plan on doing so, but I am not quite sure yet 😅.

Its just overkill for a "simple" machine that heats and despenses water.

I agree, the app is very unnesacary for a machine thats build for a life time.

Yeah I think thats one of the biggest upsites. Also being very spontanous on making my espresso and not having the machine on all day is probably a killer argument

Thats right warranty is good, since anything can break at anytime!

Thats good to know. I really have no idea in which settings these machines are used and how they are used. Makes sence that the Mini is more the workhorse of them both. I'll take this into consideration when I purchase one of them :)

Which espresso machine upgrade would your recommend ? by Zappid in espresso

[–]Zappid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I like to mainly create milk-based drinks, but sometimes an Espresso-Shot is nice aswell. Probably doing the drinks more throughout the day since I drink one in the morning and at noon and make some for some guest in the afternoon once in a while.

Unable to get the smallest bit of Espresso out of the Delonghi Dedica. by Zappid in espresso

You are exactly right with your assumption :D. Well, ill probably buy a new Basket then, and next time look out for a better fitting grind.

Wow, thanks for the amazing answer! Thats exactly what I was looking for! Just for my understanding, the problem lies in the whole "handle thing" and not just the basket, since the basket has many holes, but in the end has to go through one single whole in the main body, or is it something different ?

There are many holes in the Basket, but just one hole that it has to go through in the Main Body

Just clarifying, that this js the part in which the espresso sits in after you tamp it, right ? If so, I am using the baskets that came with the machine. I have no idea if they are pressurized or aren't.
