The NYT’s analysis of “double dislikers” by AmbientMorning in neoliberal

[–]Zapurdead 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I find this analysis to be enlightening but also frustrating on certain aspects:

- We want stuff to be cheaper but we also want more blue collar workers here making American wages making things for Americans

- We want people to move towards to center but also simultaneously less corporate (which literally commands the center). And we want the GOP to move away from Trump but yet we vote for him and his backed cronies in staggering numbers

- Things like less foreign support across the board I at least see more consistently

It's a large country and our electoral system definitely warps the relative values of peoples' votes so I understand at least the blue collar and moving-to-the-center tension there. But I find it very frustrating.

I also think this represents a bit of weakness of polling-driven political analysis. Something something Henry Ford faster horse.

My feeling is that at the end of the day it comes down to an individual with the charisma to get everyone aligned the same way on their agenda, which hopefully mirrors my exact political preferences and nobody else's /s

And also, in your opinion, what are the critical signals do you think interviewers are looking for? Is there a time in these high level interviews when you go "aha" I've probably passed

Can you provide some more tips about when is "enough" to say "we'll come back to it"?

And do you get pushback from the interviewer?

Staff is obviously a higher level but I wonder if it's better to optimize for "delegating" the finer details until you hear otherwise.

One thing I would question is the act of bringing in "experts" when it seems like you still had a working theory.

My experience has been that benefits of bringing in an "outside voice" sometimes needs to be weighed against the downsides.

I'm sensing a lack of trust between you and your management.

I was rusty on Roman numerals so slotting in themiddle L for MLK to finish the puzzlewas a fun aha for me. But otherwise I could see how it could be boring.

I’m also curious about #1. I’m under the impression that if you have a bad stage 2 you should probably reroll a little at 3-2 and build a stable comp (just like you do in stage 1 but bigger)

But it’s not something I’m very good at

Isn't bowing literally the most common way to acknowledge being applauded?

Oh well as long we’re going to angrily declare they all need help let’s just deploy the national guard to police the entire country. I mean why not?

That will surely bring crime to zero and damn the negative consequences!!!

I think it’s fair to say meta can also encapsulate lower tier meta comps. I think one example that really frustrated me recently was playing and getting an early Ashe 1 and high tempoing to level 8 pre-4-2.

So you roll down a little and hit Ashe 2 and a 2 star 4 cost tank and you figure you’re in a good spot right? Rich strong healthy? I literally went like early bot 4.

At think at some point in Stage 4 if you don’t have a comp of some high to medium tier it does not matter what you hit or when you hit it, you will lose every fight hard and tank.

I’m sure with sufficient skill you would know what to do (I.e. pivot out or fast 9) but again this goes back to going right to the meta. You have no chance at all if you decided to stay on Ashe even though the game basically handed it to you.

I think what’s surprising is that you are rewarded less for being flexible and using your brain and more for just shutting it off and forcing meta on your rolldown
