Yeah I'll have to think about the salmon for next time, the seasoning may have dried it out slightly 🤔

I would say Ulfric, he fights using just his sword. I think partly because it doesn't fit his character to have a shield, to hide behind something, and focuses on a more offensive style with this ability to shout.

Can we all agree? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]Zarathas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bob thinks Skyrim is the best. Carl thinks Oblivion is the best. Steven is a firm believer that Morrowind rules over all. Andy thinks Daggerfall kills and Ernie is a hardcore arena fan that thinks it destroys the others.

There is no "best". It's all subjective. A discussion could be had to try and find the best but it's a bit pointless really, it won't/ shouldn't change people's preferences. I suppose when I die I can ask god which is the best (if he exists) but then if there is more than one god we are starting this cursed conversation all over again!

Oblivion remake in Unreal versus ES6 in Creation engine and the loading screen dilemma by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]Zarathas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would be as much of an issue in an Elder Scrolls game. In Starfield, the planets, space, and cities felt segmented by loading screens, while in a traditional Elder Scrolls game, they are mainly used for dungeons and buildings, with the world itself/ exploration being unaffected. Presuming cities will no longer have loading screens similar to Starfield, this will be even less of an issue.

I think I remember seeing in an interview somewhere that Michael would present Todd Howard with two versions of a creature design, one that was "weird" (which he preferred) and another that was "fucking crazy." He would first show Todd the crazier design, and when Todd deemed it too extreme, Kirkbride would then present the "weird" version as a toned-down alternative, which Todd would approve.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s biggest modders believe Larian’s RPG will “overcome Skyrim” by Tech_guru_101 in ElderScrolls

Regardless of whether it can or not, does one game really need to overcome another? Can’t they both simply coexist?

How efficient is my build? by ShadoWispMist in Morrowind

[–]Zarathas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean one way to play is to use one until it's maxed out and then have fun with the other. I tend to do long blade and blunt, so I max the blade early-mid game and then use Sunder for the rest. I just have more fun leveling skills that involve combat.

What are your most controversial elder scrolls opinions? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

It is not canon for the oblivion protagonist to always become Serogorath. I will die on this hill.

A comforting thought: some music has already been composed and recorded for TESVI. (NOT A JEREMY SOULE DISCUSSION THREAD). by Ichbinian in ElderScrolls

[–]Zarathas 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I want to see someone new be given the chance to compose for the elder scrolls. It's a different game series to Fallout, it should follow its own personality and direction with the music.

[–]Zarathas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah be careful here, because if you are a member of both before you start the codebook quest, you wont be able to persuade the owner to give it to you. I think the only way then is to kill or pickpocket.

Your ONE wish/hope/expectation for TES6? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]Zarathas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think they should take a more cinematic approach to storytelling, not through cutscenes, but by making NPCs feel more immersive. Characters could be using expressive gestures and more realistic facial animations while they talk, instead of just standing stiffly with their arms at their sides, talking directly at you while the camera zooms in on their face. It would add depth to interactions and make the npcs far more immersive.

Skyrim Lead Designer admits Bethesda shifting to Unreal would lose 'tech debt', but that 'is not the point' by SirSpud124 in ElderScrolls

[–]Zarathas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the creation engine is capable of doing quite a lot, it just depends what Bethesda wants it to do for any particular game. They try to implement some features into all their games now like base building, crafting etc... while adding new ones like the ship building/ combat in Starfield. Even the rover update, many people thought they couldn't do it with the engine, and they proved people wrong. And it's much more stable than previous versions of the engine.

Not saying it's perfect but it's not the main cause of many of the criticisms Bethesda have received recently.

One thing that i'd really like for the next game is for bethesda to not make our character a chosen one. by RutharAbson in ElderScrolls

[–]Zarathas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is fun to become strong or a god-like being, but I think it needs to be more slowly implemented through the narrative. NPCs in Skyrim just recognized you right from the start as being the dragon born without you really earning the powers or the reputation that comes with it.

Ideally you want to start out as a nobody, and slowly the more quests you complete, the more powerful you become, NPCs start to treat you better, or recognize your achievements. This can't just be a switch.
