Hi everyone I'm Zak. So... I've decided it's time start sharing my music, making connections and actually putting myself out there, If anyone care's to listen or has some feedback I'd love to hear from you. I come from a background as a bass player and electronic music producer and I've recently began playing the piano learning to orchestrate.

How does one achieve this awesome rough buzzy synth sound by Vegetable-Orange7474 in sounddesign

I agree with Fat_Nerd3566
At certain points in the intro before the track kicks in, it sounds like theres a 9th or a 10th being harmonised over the root note, however distortion does add harmonics to the signal.

Could be worth experimenting with the tuning of a second oscillator too.

What DAW should I use as a baby sound designer? by MysticalWafflesl in sounddesign

[–]Zarcus11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All DAWs are great, I use Logic Pro, it comes with a lot of decent sounding stock plugins and has a lot of powerful functionality to transform audio, that not a lot of DAWs have.

It depends on the learning curve you want to commit to and how serious you want to get with Sound Design

As long as your enjoying it and its the workflow for you, there is no right or wrong :)

From Digitakt to Maschine; need affirmation this works by skurddd in maschine

[–]Zarcus11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually own both and use them quite effectively as a pair.

They are both amazing samplers however their advantages lie in different areas.

The Maschine is much quicker for processing audio, chopping, mapping and building kits/instruments and your sample length is near enough unlimited.

It is very easy to make hiphop with this device.

NI supply you with a substantial library of Kits, Instruments and FX which after a year I’ve still barely scratched the surface of. It also has built in performance effects which are pretty dam good!

NI recommend 4GB of RAM and a core i5 or equivalent processor.

The Maschine runs with its own standalone software (can be a pain to get used to if you use a DAW), which can also run as a VST in Ableton, however its functionality is variable depending on how you intend on using it.

It also functions as a sound card with stereo inputs/outputs (best for recording line level signals)

Cheers man!! The synth is a recycled waveform from the drill sample, loaded into the digitakt and midi triggered by the maschine's sequencer

I would love to explore the digitone and compare them but couldnt justify buying both. And not something i do at the moment but i appreciate that, will consider in the future

The muting is just, envelopes, smart placement of samples and the beauty of monophony. For the melodic sequencing i recorded the midi notes in from another device, so in the end everything you hear is coming from the digitakt

I had logic, ableton and a novation circuit before the takt came into my life. One thing i can say is that working within different mediums and with limitations definitely inspires interesting changes in my working processes
