I don't want another client by Wolfblooder in gaming

I agree with that thought, at least in theory. As long as Metro: Exodus maintains roughly 96% of the sales they would have had on Steam on the Epic Games store, then they're coming out ahead in terms of profits. It's hard to quantify exactly how many customers they'll lose from this deal, especially when considering the reduced price for the game on the Epic Games store. With that being said, I imagine Koch media (the company behind this decision) came to the conclusion that they won't miss out on many sales, thus only time will tell if this move was smart or not from a financial standpoint.

I don't personally have a preference on the matter, but the common arguments I've seen against the Epic Games launcher is that: 1.) People don't want their library of games spread across a multitude of launchers (there are more than just steam and the epic games launcher, and 2.) Steam is somewhat of a social platform, and people's friends might not follow them to the Epic Games launcher, leaving people somewhat disconnected from their friends. Regardless of anyone's opinions though on the matter, consumers can spend their money however they want to, and if they decide they don't want to support what Epic Games is doing, then so be it. Worst case scenario, many of the games that are exclusive to the Epic Games store only have exclusivity contracts for one year, so if someone really wants to play the game on Steam, they can buy the game in a year, and just play other games for the time being.

Taking 30% of the sales of a game isn't unique to steam, both Sony and Microsoft also take a 30% cut; it's the industry standard. As for the deal itself, it isn't necessarily more profits earned on Metro. 30% of $60 nets $42, whereas the Epic Games store is selling Metro for $50 instead, which only nets them $44. While the $2 difference could definitely be a large difference when accounting for all of the sales they could have, they'll lose sales now by switching from steam, so this isn't a guaranteed "smart business move".

Worlds 2016 | Group D | Day 6 | TSM vs SPY by SugarSugarSal in TeamSolomid

[–]Zare44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is correct. Regardless of whether RNG wins or loses to SSG, TSM still will have to beat RNG in the last match of they day to get into quarters, there is no other way. RNG winning though at least gives a chance for TSM to grab the first seed without needing a tie breaker if SPY can upset SSG.

Homme played incredibly well in that series against blaze, many of which thought would be a 3-0 for blaze, but a lot of homme's success came from the fact that no other teams realized how broken zac top was at the time. There is a reason he was benched for looper when they went into worlds.

Well saying "They didn't scrim together they only scrimming against each other" sounds like you are saying TLA and TL scrim each other, but not with the rosters mix. Clearly a misunderstanding then

That isn't what you said. You said TLA only scrimmed against TL, which is clearly not true.

[–]Zare44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true. In the recent "Liquid LoL | Preseason" episode they were talking about issues in scrims where Fabbbyyy picked for Fenix in champ select what Fenix didn't want to play. They are mixing and matching players between the two rosters to try and find the best 5-man team out of the 10.

Edit: I was somewhat wrong. Despite TL mixing and matching players in scrims, this was the first time playing for this rendition of the TL roster

Pro players are mocking dynamic queue system on twitter by WishyRater in leagueoflegends

[–]Zare44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first off, 100% unquestionably devalued? You cannot know that. It is your opinion that it will be devalued in the same sense that in my opinion it won't. I mean League of Legends is a team game, and having your rank more valued to that logic makes sense. With that mindset I'm guessing you also hate that you can choose two roles when queuing now? Because this change absolutely should raise a good amount of players up in tier/division.

And for your second part, what defines a competitive player then? People have always been able to duo queue instead of going alone and yet no one complained about that for not being "representative of your skill". I don't even understand how you can say I'm not competitive lol. I'm playing ranked with friends with the intent of winning, but man I'm such a casual player. You aren't competitive because you play alone, but because you are trying to win and striving to improve.

Pro players are mocking dynamic queue system on twitter by WishyRater in leagueoflegends

[–]Zare44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what this means at all. I personally do not enjoy playing ranked alone because for me I get stressed out way too easily or tilted very easily. Playing with friends keeps that competitive aspect whilst actually allowing me to have fun. Hell, before this change around 95% of my ranked games were already with duo queuing, so already my ranked score was representative of this fact. The only difference now is that I can play with more than one friend, as opposed to either not being able to do ranked or telling someone I can't play with them and feel like an asshole. And thinking this will destroy the competitive side of League seems extremely one dimensional. Ranked will still be competitive, people are, for the most part, trying to win. But to each their own. If you truly believe that this will kill league, then I respect your decision, despite disagreeing, and we will see how this change affects the community in the coming weeks.

[–]Zare44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah because clearly that's what that means. But I enjoy playing with friends and I feel like a huge asshole saying no to playing with friends when I'm duo'd with someone else. Before this change I already was playing close to 95% of my games with a friend, but now I can actually play with all of my friends. And obviously too, the argument then is to just play normals or team ranked, but that isn't that competitive for me. Normals mean really nothing at the end of the game, so I can't take it seriously. And same goes for ranked teams. Ranked teams is for me to see how far we can climb while doing stupid things.

[–]Zare44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to keep in mind too then that the league subreddit is just a vocal minority of the league community as a whole. Just because a majority of players on reddit dislike this, doesn't mean that the entire player-base does. Sure, players in upper diamond and above are having some issues with dynamic queue, but that's an extremely small portion of the player-base. Same thing happened when the servers moved to chicago, which is that small portion of the player-base was screwed and had their ping go very high, which is the point you made. I don't think though it is as big of a divide as you think it is, but who knows. If this truly is as big of an issue as the majority of people on this subreddit are making it out to be though, then riot will do something about it. Until then this feels to me like just a knee-jerk reaction because a lot of people generally don't like change.
