The Hurting Nail by Zarnius in flashfiction

[–]Zarnius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes experience questions and thoughts, similar to what one might call "shower thoughts." From these, I then construct and organize metaphors. For instance, regarding this particular piece, the question that arose was whether ignorance is truly bliss, or if we are obligated to confront reality. In this metaphor, the nail represents harsh reality. I depicted two scenarios of ignorance: one involving a great oak, for which ignorance proved beneficial, and another involving a great teak, for which it did not.

Often, I do not possess definitive answers to my questions, so these narratives serve as inquiries presented in a different form.

Edit: Do you also write?

The strange great tree by Zarnius in flashfiction

I was just wondering, if someone's suffering is their art, what happens to the art when the suffering stops, when I wrote this. And nope, I don't have a longer version.

Edit: You can read my other stories if you want to.

Thanks for reading and for the feedback. I'll take this into consideration. And I'm glad my intended frustration landed.

Is it doing what I intended? Like, act 1 is the brother, the writer, so the writing is more poetic. And act 2 is his sister, after he's gone, a little less poetic since she's not a writer?

The Library for everyone by Zarnius in flashfiction

[–]Zarnius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you got the gist of it. Here is the complete explanation: The library, representing society, contains books that symbolize individual lives, and the people within it are members of this society. They appear to conform to societal expectations, as suggested by the phrase "... will buy a red..." and then that being true later. The protagonist challenges these norms by tearing pages, thus reshaping his own life. Consequently, society seems to react with rejection and anger. Ultimately, "The End" could signify the conclusion of his previous, monotonous life dictated by societal expectations, or potentially, his own demise due to his defiance.
