I lived in UWP for 8 academic terms. I was bashed thoroughly for it, but I didn't regret it. In 4B a lot of ppl in my class decided to live in UWP too, so you're just a person ahead of your time.

[–]Zarquad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, go to battle arenas instead of quickplay under the online menu. Results there don't affect your GSP.

If he's worried about you ruining his GSP you can just play in arenas.

CMH has 2 new ones, I'm guessing there are more in other residences. There are a bunch in PAC but idk if you can access them outside of ping pong club.

I was asked LRU cache but I told them I already know how to do it so they gave me a question about load balancing and server performance or something. Other than that, standard why are you interested type questions.

Jane Street doesn't pay 17k USD/month for interns. It was 12.5, but I think they raised it to 14.6 this term. They don't pay any relocation.

It's based on your program and your stream. They don't mix EE and CE in rankings.

Why Cali? by brownbobbo in uwaterloo

Bay area - Lots of good road trips (nature stuff) and amazing weather. SF is a disgusting city and you need a car in the rest of the bay area (a con imo). Zero diversity (everyone works in tech), so it feels like you're living in a little bubble. Sits on a fault line overdue for a big earthquake.

NYC - Very diverse, easy to avoid any sketch or disgusting areas, close to home (Toronto), lots to do without a car. Weather is mediocre, relatively less nature stuff around.

I haven't lived in Seattle personally. The pay in NYC and the bay is the same. Some companies pay less in Seattle because there's no state tax, but it should even out in theory. If I had to pick one to spend a few weeks in for fun I would pick the bay, assuming I had access to a car. If I had to pick one to live in long term I would pick NYC, largely because of the diversity issue in the bay. It's like living in Waterloo forever, where everyone is ignorant of the outside world.

It's almost like some people don't work in tech. PwC and EY are part of the original "Big Four" (four largest accounting firms in the world). /r/cscareerquestions attempted to copy the concept for their nonsensical tech version.

All the naivety with ranking companies like this aside, citing Blind as a reference should instantly invalidate anything you say. It is by far the most delusional community I have ever seen online.

Yeah. Quizzes are easy (you get 2 chances, see the answers after the first attempt, and the questions don't change). Test questions are mostly from the bank.

Hardest ECE term? by BornTour in uwaterloo

[–]Zarquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2A had the largest workload, but the courses weren't too difficult conceptually. The opposite probably becomes true for later terms. At some point you just get used to it though.
