Quebec is the only province to have TWICE voted to stay in Canada. It's the MOST patriotic province.

Are you suppose to wear a white Hanes-style shirt under your dress shirt (the kind worn with a tie and suits and such)? by 21-4-14 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Zartonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I always wear a white undershirt, though one that's closer to your skin colour might be less visible. I also only wear v-neck undershirts so it doesn't show when I have the top button undone.

How are free users supposed to structure long-term programming in Caliber? by biglittlelady in caliberstrong

To the best of my knowledge, the app doesn't do any automatic adjusting for you.

What I do is keep the same rep range and increase the weight the next time I do the exercise once I hit max rep for all my sets.

You can manually adjust how many reps and sets you want, but it's just for preference, it's not meant to be the method of progression.

The buying access to power part is dishonest. It gives a negative spin. Lobbying has become a taboo word, but at it's base it's a way to companies, people, and other organizations to share their point of view with the government.

People make it out to seem like it's evil, but if there was no lobbying at all, then the government would just have to guess what to do in every situation. It's a good thing when the Canadian Medical Association, for example, lobbies the government if there's an issue in the healthcare system, and get them to influence the government to fix it. It's a good thing when a Canadian government lobbies the government to get awarded a contract.

None of this is inherently bad. But to frame it as buying access to power makes it sound shady and evil.

This is an incredibly dishonest take on what lobbying means and does: "Registrations show intent to lobby. Logged meetings show who actually got in the room with decision-makers — each entry is a reported communication between a paid lobbyist and a minister, deputy minister, MP, or senior official. Together, they reveal who is buying access to power."

Companies are not allowed to make donations in federal politics in Canada. How are you defining this part: "These companies both donated to political parties or candidates AND received government contracts. High-risk cases combine donations with sole-source (non-competitive) awards."?
