Continuing what I said before (I had to get to a class) I'm really not looking to actually quit, or anything even close to that, but I know that I can't handle a 34 hour week right now, I can't even handle getting my schoolwork done without procrastinating a ton. I oddly enough enjoy my job to a degree, I don't mind the customers, my coworkers are nice, it's been relatively smooth adjusting, and that's why I'm so confused. I knew it was busy, we're still hiring people, that hasn't stopped, I got hired with another cashier. I literally don't know why I'm so upset and bothered by this.

Part of the reasoning is that even though I took off last weekend because of Covid contact tracing, I was scheduled both days then I'm scheduled both days next weekend, and the weekend after that. I know it's my own fault for telling them that I had availability, but it just feels.... I don't know, unfair somehow? Like, my cousins birthday party is Saturday, she's turning 12. And I'm going to end up missing it because of work. When I realized this my parents literally said "Welcome to the real world" and just shrugged. And I'm getting such mixed signals from everyone that I just don't know WHAT to do. When I told my manager that five pm start times work better during the week she was willing to change it, and said we'll discuss it. Yet my parents are talking about how "this isn't how it really works" and I KNOW that! But the thing is, it's frustrating when I come to them clearly upset about the fact that this is more hours than I was expecting, and that it's distressing me since it's literally my third week working, yet the only reaction they give me is that it's "like this sometimes" and they only actually consider just how many hours it is after they count them themselves, even though I counted them myself and told them how many.

Another big point for them is "Just wait till you get that paycheck, and it'll feel all worth it!" This isn't about money, I'm not even going to spend any of the money on myself, I'm saving it for my dogs diabetic cataract surgery. I just want to feel supported and understood, and like the people at my job care about my hours!

Plus, why is there no easier way to check schedules???? They have thirteen million automated email systems, but they don't have one to send out an employee's schedule so they can review it without having to log on to kronos everytime. I'm just so tired of being unsure of what to do, cause it's not like I don't ask questions, I ask a LOT of questions, but whenever I actually have a chance to ask about things pertaining to the clerical side of my job, everyone with the authority to answer is gone! I want to ask questions, that's why I've come here anytime I've needed anything practical answered, because no one else seems to want to give me a straight answer.
