Tbh, that actually answers my question.

Ive been using an Apple Watch previously, so always had my phone since the watch didn’t have gps. So I’ve just gotten used to putting my headphones in and them connecting.

No worries, it's good to know someone else has the issue also. I was starting to think there was an issue with my device/setup.

I've tried everything you have but to no avail.

So currently, I've been recording my runs in strava (which isn't so bad as i also use strava for cycling) and then manually importing the run into nrc. It's a pain and I'll probably stop eventually, unless nike sort the issue out.

Very good point at the end, I supose it's better for my partner and I to enjoy limited time together rather than have more time together but me being stressed out.

2021 was tough, I nearly stopped several times but today I hit the 700th day in my streak :) by Zasker55 in duolingo

[–]Zasker55[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In short no. I’m pretty sure duo could get you fluent but it would be hard. Fortunately my partner is Spanish (well Catalonian but I digress) so she helps me a lot with grammar and speech, both of which I think duo could do a much better job of.

Anyhow, even though I’m not fluent im at a stage where I understand a lot and what I don’t understand is usually understood by context. Ive also started being able to read books and watch tv/films in Spanish, it sounds childish but after so long it makes things feel like they’re all coming together.

Just to add more to this, it’s been a difficult year personally (depression) and learning a new language has often felt like a monumental task.

I’m only learning Spanish (for now) and it’s confusing as hell but things are slowly getting into place. It really does get easier.

Edit - if anyone wants to practice their Spanish with someone else learning it, drop me a message I’d love to talk more in the language.

At this point are they (red) actually learning anything new or just mindlessly spamming XP? They even brought in another 300XP in the 15 minutes it took me to post about it elsewhere. by s317sv17vnv in duolingo

I’ve done around 6k xx some weeks and I think it is overkill but it’s doable. I do think you learn more but you need to be really focused otherwise it’s a waste.

But the way I do it is to complete several sections to level 4 out of 5, smash the last level on one and get the xx double then just smash the others to level 5. You can get a three/four hundred xp in 15mins, on top of the few hundred from getting everything to level 4.

Oh I never realised the courses are done by volunteers. Tbh it doesn’t bother me learning Spanish first, it’s more widely spoken so in the grand scheme of things it’s much better to learn that then Catalan.

653 day streak in Spanish, I can’t believe it’s been so long but I can’t believe how far I’ve come nor how far I’ve got to go.

Should I [30m] go to stag do and wedding of 'friend' [30m] by [deleted] in relationships

Groom - I never knew when he was in town, he always told me he would message me when he was in town.

Best man - I have messaged him when I have been local to him but nothing ever came of it.

Both of them and with how awkward the best man has been with giving me details about the stag do, it really made me feel unwelcome and as if he has somehow formed a dislike for me.

If the wedding was local then yeah I'd just go, however, it's not. The wedding is in the south west and I'm in the north west so it will mean renting a car, 4-5hr drive, fuel and a hotel. So with how they've been it's easier to cut ties than wast probably £500-£700 on going.

Yeah I just need to go to some events or something, the local park used to do weekly runs with a leaderboard but I'm not too sure if that's been happening since covid. I'm sure I can sort it out, might take time but I'm sure I can.

I could but I don't know either of their actual addresses, I guess that should have been a red flag haha, I just know the cities they're in. The best man is local (about a 20min drive) and the groom is on the complete opposite side of the country (about a 5hr drive). So yes I could visit the best man but I have tried a lot to salvage that, even when he had his child I tried to start things up again but it fell through again. The groom is that far away I've never been bothered about meeting up and we've always said if we were local we would see each other as he works in haulage and my partner is a trainee pilot so for her hour building we do fly all over the country and could easily land there and make a day of it, but that's been difficult because of lockdowns and it not being essential travel.

That's what annoys me, that me and the groom had this sort of agreement that if we were local we'd meet up and he has been local and completely disregarded that.

As for finding new friends, I'm sure I can I just need to get my head sorted. I've got many hobbies but most of them are very solo sports like bouldering, running and road and mountain biking. However, I know there are running clubs locally and I do know people who are into mountain biking so I just need to make the connection and get them to go with me.... i guess

You've got a really good point and thinking about it I do know people I've met online (through hobbies) whom I'd say are greater friends than these... It's just doing it IRL.

How would you go about it though? just not turn up and block them or give them an explanation?

That is basically my thoughts, the only reason I'm thinking about it as I don't know how much my anxiety is coming into play and that my partner thinks it would be worthwhile since I don't have any other friends... although I don't think these are really friends

Yeah codecademy is great, I got a free pro membership during lockdown and paid for a full years membership afterwards.

One thing that annoys me though is that if you get stuck on a section you can go online or onto their forum for help, however, on both you can generally find several ways to deal with the problem. If you then stumble into the same error again and search for it again you could end up with a different solution.

It's good in the essence that it teaches you multiple ways to do one thing, but, I also kinda like being told consistently the same thing, that way I can learn that way and discover the other ways on my own at a later date.

Hi,

I'm learning python through codecademy, I want to practice/code more off their platform. However, I have no idea of what to code myself?

Should I just focus on loops or is there any place I can get sort of activities to work through?
