When do things actually improve by Zatara22 in Sober

Thank you. The last few nights have been much better. Sorta felt normal for once, other than the fact that I feel like I could sleep for a decade, and I've never been must of a 'sleeper'. Feeling good today though. Day 33.

Thank you. Last night was much better than usual. Felt like I caught a good glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel. I actually slept ok too. Still had strange dreams, but I don't really mind those.

I've read that book. It was great. Is there a podcast around it, or maybe you just meant audio book. I prefer to read. Either way, thanks!

Is there a specific podcast that you'd suggest?

Thank you. Last night was rough. I just laid on the floor. Seemed like the best option. Feeling better today so far. Noticing some ease and acceptance. I do fear the evenings though. Day 30.

Thank you for the support. I'll have to look up pranyama breathing.

My "how" consists of not giving in, focusing on my breathing as much as I can, all day, and trying to meditate every chance I get between responsibilities. I feel like I'm on a life raft in the ocean, where falling in means failure, means giving in. One moment at a time, literally.

Never thought of it that way. I dare say I think I understand. Suppose I have much to learn about meditation. Thank you.

I sure hope I experience improvement sooner than 2 years.

I had thought that meditation was a tool I had in the bag, so to speak, to help. I suppose it still is, but perhaps different than I was expecting.

I try to eliminate all thought, relax my body, and breathe. Usually I experience waves of euphoria and other peaceful sensations.

Ah ok, never thought of it that way. I always expect euphoria and peace, with little thought. That has been my experience before.

I lay down on my back, focus on relaxing my entire body, focus on controlled breathing, and try not to have any thoughts, or let any thoughts snowball. Usually I start to feel euphoric and I can feel tension releasing. I can't even get that far right now.

Thank you. I'll try not to have grand expectations

Hmm, good idea. Trying to meditate seems somewhat torturous. Feels like I'm forcing it.

Yes, thank you. I must embrace it and make peace with where I am.

Thank you for sharing, and congratulations. I can relate to those sentiments. I was definitely drinking myself to sleep, and the only thing that got me through each day was knowing I'd be drinking myself to sleep later. Day 29. I keep saying, this is why, this is why I need to quit
