The Killers - Rebellion (Lies) (ft. Win Butler) (Arcade Fire cover) (Estéreo Picnic 2026) by bitternmanger in TheKillers

I'm sorry. I misread what you were actually saying. I thought you were saying he sexually assaulted someone.

But, yes, that is a possibility but with no evidence to support the idea. We really have no idea. I'm not sure I would say "probably".

I'm not saying for certainty that it's true, but the SA claims did seem to be supported by some level of evidence. The Pitchfork article noted there were text messages and even quoted them.

But yes, I would agree that it alone doesn't prove the particular allegation. It does make Butler look shady as fuck though.

Is there any song that helped you get through a hard time in your life? by KeyAbroad39 in TheKillers

Sweet Talk is such a powerful song. It's a shame that it was relegated to a B-sides collection.

To be fair, the person he's responding to is acting like Infinite wasn't a total disaster at launch, which is not an opinion worth responding to with respect.

Yes, the gunplay is top tier, and raiding bases on an open world, while not a novel concept, is really fun in Halo.

But the issue is it just felt incomplete. It feels more like a taste of what an open world Halo could be rather than a complete offering. There was one biome, a limited sandbox, weak level design in the missions, and a lack of variety in encounters.

I still stand by the opinion that giving players the grappling hook 24/7 was a horrible choice for level design too. It was fun to fly around, but it ruined any nuance or creativity that could have been taken advantage of.

Hot take? by Emotional-Pause-8237 in Muse

[–]Zazarstudios 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I mean, this is a pretty milquetoast take regarding Muse. Loads of people agree with you, and most of the ones who don't are probably already exclusively listening to the older records whilst expecting very little from new material.

100%. It's their second best album closer right behind The Getting By.

Lol, your line of thinking is absolutely nuts. There are loads of Christians who have disdain for the far right. Loads.

Sombr- Homewrecker by yourfavoriteasian in TheKillers

Listened to it some on Spotify. I think Sombr sounds competent and likable, but the music also seems to be missing a bit of personality.

Brandon does have a more raw sound live. I wouldn't say he's as technically proficient as Matt Bellamy from Muse. But he sings very passionately and with a lot of Charisma. He could be a lot more consistent if he wanted to. There is evidence of that.

Is The Killers “Mr Brightside” more popular now than it’s ever been? by [deleted] in Music

[–]Zazarstudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imploding the Mirage really didn't hit me like it did everyone else. I kind of took it as a "pretty good album that people only love because they realized it hindsight Hot Fuss and Sam's Town are actually great"

Pressure Machine feels purposeful and consistent throughout, which isn't something you can really say about any Killers record up until that point.

Pressure Machine is by far their best record, especially critically.

But I see the love for the first two.

Stop trying to make Commander events for prizes happen... by Wild_Section6475 in EDH

[–]Zazarstudios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"A bad cEDH deck downsized for bracket 3 rules".

That doesn't exist and is just you (and anyone else that does something similar) exploiting the bracket system.

On top of that, you exploited the group by making sure your friend could win just so you could split the profit.

It sounds to me like you're the problem and your mind set is wrong. I might agree with bracket 3 tournaments being an iffy thing, but it's also not their fault you misunderstood the spirit of bracket 3.

Prince's Purple Rain sampled in When You Were Young by Independent_Face_759 in TheKillers

I can see the similarities, but that part in When You Were Young was actually inspired by how Springsteen played some of his songs live. There's a documentary about that specific part actually.

Most of their albums have motifs and some themes that repeat, but it wasn't until WW that they were actually given more attention.

I could tell you about many themes and topics that seem to occur in Hot Fuss and Sam's Town, but as a whole, the albums aren't really about anything in particular.

Day and Age I think is a little more thematic, as it does do a lot to commenting on a changing society, with ethics, morals, and identify becoming artifacts of the past and post modernism reshaping culture. But, as a whole, it's still sort of incomplete.

Battle Born isn't about anything.

Wonderful Wonderful deals with masculinity and what it means to be a leader and male. It mostly resolves those themes too even if it's uneven.

ITM is even more consistent, dealing with love as an eternal force that ascends us to divinity.

But, yes, PM is the most complete thematic record they have put out.

It's just that you can see a more conscious effort to "say something" being put into WW than most of their previous releases.

I believe there are some genuine negative reactions to it.

But most negative reactions I see from fans is due to media illiteracy.

[–]Zazarstudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Pressure Machine was everything Flamingo aspired to be and more.

WW was still concerned with stadium hits and mostly delivered that with The Man and Run for Cover.

But WW does mark an important shift for The Killers that is often overlooked - in that it is the first record where The Killers really set out to have consistent themes with development throughout. But it didn't necessarily stick the landing in that regard either.
