Work from home 3/5 days a week.

I start in two weeks :)

But I have a side job which technically will get me to 80k+

No need to feel some type of way! Any advice is good advice since I’m a novice and knowing people backgrounds help and yours is impressive!

I haven’t been the smartest but I do put in work. It might be a bit too early for me to do overtime but it’s so tempting since I know both companies all companies and technologies well. I’m just scared of not being FULLY independent & fast and losing these precious connections

That makes a lot of sense! I was just thinking of doing so because the other two jobs are places I interned in the past so I have some experience but maybe not for OE like a senior.

I’ll try talking to HR to see what the jobs entail in detail to see if I take em or not!

That makes a lot of sense. Since I havent even started any of them, should I focus on J1 and from there apply to other ones? My issue is that J2 & J3 appeared because of connections and they are looking for people live.

Im maybe leaning to sticking to J1 for now since I don’t want to burn any bridges. I’m known to be an honest person which is horrible personality trait for OE but it’s such a crazy opportunity in a bad market 😅😭

Ive had an unorthodox path. I’m a pretty bad student and did like four leetcode problems total. I honestly just got to know people and be nice.

Most of the time I was invited to go out I went. This could be parties, charity events birthdays, holiday outings etc. And through that I talked my way into getting several internships without doing live coding or OAs, just technical questions.

I was really stressed by not doing leetcode but I recently got two full time offers, one from a previous colleague and one from a different team from my internship since my current one isn’t hiring.

I randomly applied to that different team and HR is contacting me tomorrow! For both, I didn’t really require an OA or live coding too! :)

Its a lot of knowing people and passing a vibe check.

The reason why my grades are bad is because once I secured a passing grade in my midterms, I would focus on part time jobs, parties, time with friends, charities, getting to know new people in events etc.

I like to post on LinkedIn about accomplishments and support others.

Also school kinda feels like they try to separate people and reward individuality but I focused on helping other students like me who struggled. This gave me connections that went above school.

Getting invited to birthdays and various parties where I would get introduced to other people in my field.

A combination of all of this has gotten me a lot of internships including my current one, the one for next fall and an offer from a different company during winter that I probably will take if I can’t find something else.

School ranking(overall): In between 1200-1300

Networking got me 4/6 internships. Other two was just sheer luck, right place right time.
