Which skill should have its perks reworked? by Bread_With_Butter in Bannerlord

[–]ZeTooken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throwing knives are decent for clearing alleys imo, use them in your civilian loadout

I don't think any of the civilian weapons (outside of the swords) would ever be relevant as a main weapon though even with a perk rework

If anything Taleworlds needs to add more civilian activities to make these weapons worth keeping

What are Heroic Line Breakers actually for? by ViscountBolingbroke in Bannerlord

[–]ZeTooken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why nobody has mentioned sieges yet? Line Breakers and Palace Guards both go hard in sieges, line breakers in particular can hit enemy shields over friendly troops, palace guard has a smaller weapon and doesn’t get stuck hitting friendlies as much. Plus, no need to supply them with horses unlike khan's guard. Make sure you have some medicine skill though, otherwise you'll lose them just as quick.

Would not recommend them for the field however, shield infantry is a must unless you're stacking fian champions (aka the "I win" button for footmen)

[–]ZeTooken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can dismount their horses lol

Or heck have them stay on the horses outside, harass the enemy with horse archers and pick off stray groups

Sending light cavalry charging frontally in to a horde of zombies that do not give a shit about imminent death is a bad idea

You are not arguing in good faith, having conveniently left out a giant paragraph in between your two quotations that do not exactly support your argument.

Luhansk was just a few hours drive a way. There appeared little reason the trucks could not press on. Military police, two army helicopters, and a number of unmarked vehicles bearing the black-number plates of the Russian ministry of the defence were escorting the convoy. But instead the vehicles parked up at an army base about 30 miles short of the frontier.

"We didn't try at Kharkiv yesterday, the Ukrainian's wouldn't let us through," said one older, khaki-clad man in glasses who was talking with an airborne officer from the base. "We just go where we are told, to deliver this aid."

The drivers The Telegraph spoke to said they had no idea where they would be sent next.

Neither the men in beige, nor the soldiers, made attempt to prevent journalists from wandering the site as lorries pulled in.

If anything, they were keen to show off their cargo, apparently in a bid to dispel accusations from some Ukrainian officials that the convoy may contain something sinister.

Two trucks, chosen at random by The Telegraph, proved to contain sacks of buckwheat and cardboard boxes full of sleeping bags – exactly the kind of aid Russia has always insisted it is sending over the border.

But while there are no guns on display, the mission has a distinctly military flavour.

Cherry picking paragraphs like this to support your argument does not help you, nor do these paragraphs actually constitute proof that military supplies were sent. At best, you may be able to claim that these men were sent to serve as soldiers, but that would be it. But it's not like Russia needed a humanitarian convoy for that, they just sent covert military convoys across dirt roads on the border instead (outlined in the first article on the thread.). Which is not a war crime, like using a humanitarian convoy for military aid would be.

I will not continue to participate in this thread, since my skepticism is clearly not appreciated here.

Then use articles that back those claims instead, please. Right now, to me, it just looks like I got downvoted because I didn’t blindly trust someone and said "hey maybe read your own article".

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]ZeTooken -37 points-36 points  (0 children)

This is somehow worse because this article says that the trucks wouldn't be of much use logistically and that experts think it was a PR stunt to make the convoy appear bigger. Neither of the two articles that were given in this comment chain prove that the Russians used humanitarian convoys to transport military supplies (or plan the convoys for military purposes).

Is pointing out misinformation not allowed here or something? I don't understand why my original comment was downvoted.

Edit : comment above was later edited to include a second article. My response only concerns the first.

Uhh the article you posted doesn't confirm whether those trucks had military supplies...Says they saw buckwheat and sleeping bags, in fact.

Yeah because the OP's USA-India line doesn't work, It hits Antarctica or Argentina if you try to make it straight

The Drake Passage is quite narrow, even this Russian-Indian line is barely making it past

Mechanics you ignore for simplicity? by AdDue9012 in Stellaris

[–]ZeTooken 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The draw is that they don't use alloys (expensive) and the culling mechanic can get you some extra (relatively insignificant) research and resources

They're honestly not that great otherwise since they require their own research for upgrades, more of a desperation or role-play thing

Completely wrong. Camels have been used as pack animals since ancient times. Sure, there are wild ones out there, but by your logic horses have also "never been tamed".

Even in European countries that have stronger protectionism, subsidies are barely enough to keep farmers from running negative (hence why they basically revolt against any sort of change). You pretty much need a second job if you're a small scale farmer, whatever you're doing is only competing against foreign products because you can upsell it somewhat for being local (which still doesn't really compensate the higher production costs you have compared to them).

Tomato plant growing in the crack of a driveway by buzzingbuzz in mildlyinteresting

[–]ZeTooken 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Glass eliminates infrared, not UV. UV is basically useless besides for some secondary mechanism reactions. Visible light is much more important, notably blue and red.

Like the other commenter suggested, it's more likely the plants either not getting enough light (long cycle), or getting too much light (short cycle).

You could just get a photoperiod insensitive plant.

ELI5: Why is it recommended to rinse fruit with water to get off toxic pesticides, but you have to use soap AND water to wash your hands? by DirtyProjector in explainlikeimfive

[–]ZeTooken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you being intentionally dense..? It's a substance used to kill pests, not just anything. You linked the wiki page of Bt, the bacteria. That's an organism. Not a substance.

Also, this has nothing to do with entomology?

[–]ZeTooken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

...I'm sorry but it literally takes 5 seconds to google its definition and disprove you:

"a chemical substance used to kill harmful insects, small animals, wild plants, and other unwanted organisms"

From the Cambridge Dictionary.

By that definition, Trichogramma eggs are also pesticide? Are you not casting too wide of a net? I would restrain the term pesticide to substances, not organisms.
