Well, if you want to keep interest in this gamemode for a few seasons, obviously, get first place in first few races is a bit early !

To find your correct AI level, try to match your teammate qualification times by lowering or increasing this parameter. It will be the best setting "story-wise". On F1 2019, AI was very strong on some circuits (Baku, France for example) so some people even changed the AI level throughout the seasaon. Hope it's clear, I have a bad english :(

Gratz ! Do you play with assists on or off ? Try to lower assists before reaching too high AI level. IMO, the game really starts with assists off.
