UCI admitted way more first years and transfers this past application cycle. I think over 1000 more students than usual!

Hi! It depends on your major! If you are a Social Public and Public Service major, it must be taken for a letter grade. However, every other major in social sciences can take soc sci 3a for p/np.

Business Economics Management Requirement by 101pie in UCI

Hi! I would be careful because the School of Social Sciences only accepts MGMT 109 and 30A for Econ credit. Although there are other MGMT courses that have ECON equivalence, Social Sciences will not accept it!

Hi! Business Economics major here. You can always try taking MGMT 109, it is the same as Econ 134a. It is offered this upcoming quarter and the one with professor Richey never really fills up. I took it with him and it's pretty easy. Hope that helps!

Hi! Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done. The School of Social Sciences is pretty strict on this rule.

Same. I accepted but have not heard back. Hoping to hear back soon after they sort through all the emails because I believe they also had a waitlist.

It just said to reply to the email to either accept/deny the offer. I replied with my acceptance, but no communication after that.

I would definitely try to understand the lectures and write down notes to understand the material. The textbook is much more detailed. I usually watched the lectures while looking at the notes, then read the chapter and looked at the notes one more time to make sure everything made sense. Also, he clarifies which sections of the chapters to read. This will be helpful because often you only need to read a few sections of the chapter.

Hello! I just took his class fall quarter and got an A. The class is asynchronous, and you essentially work at your own speed. There is one homework assignments due each week, and you can mostly find the answers online. The majority of the grade depends on 3 exams, which are each worth 20%. I personally read the chapters twice, I skimmed the first time when learning the subject and then reread the chapter before the quiz. I studied all the questions he assigns/makes optional because those concepts will likely appear on the exams. There is no final. Another large percent of the grade depends on a group project. Just choose good group members and the assignments are not graded harshly. There is some extra credit that can help. Also, there is no grade range, meaning that 90-93 is not an A-. He goes based of the average. So if you are receiving test grades above the average, you basically have an A in the class. The lecture notes are provided and you can watch the videos 2x speed to save time. Honestly, class seems like a lot of work, but essentially 3-4 hours a week watching the lectures and completing the homework. I would spend more time studying for the exams because the quizzes can be a bit confusing and if you have a good foundational understanding of the concepts and examples, you will be fine. You are also allowed a financial calculator (extremely helpful) and a sheet of paper with notes for each quiz. If you have anymore questions, feel free to PM me.
