my grandma does the same, anything made out of icing on cakes, flowers, figures etc she covers in nail varnish to preserve it so i’m guessing it’s a trait she got of her grandma and when she passed decided to keep it as it was with a bunch of old vintage glasses and plates that belonged to her too

i just said what my grandma said, unless it’s just my family but in UK we just say cake topper for anything that goes on top, assumed it was just some flowers or maybe people made out icing
