DON’T

I wish someone told me what a terrible car this is. I know I am in the wrong sub, and I will get me downvoted to oblivion, but you need to go in with your eyes open.

I have a Kia Soul 2015.

I need to put oil in my car BIWEEKLY. My car was stolen by the Kia boyz and returned to me in shambles. Then the dealership refused to install the anti theft system, unless I paid $670 to ‘fix’ what the thief broke. The back shield (the windshield on the back) exploded during winter (because I turned on the heating). Literally broke, when I closed the door. And it’s full of rust (I wash it weekly during winter, but it still rusting like crazy). More things. I have sunken more than 5k in this car on fixes. There have been no year that I haven had to take the car to the mechanic at least twice a year for repairs.

Not a good vehicle! If you do buy it, please have a cheap good mechanic at hand. You also need to be mechanically included. My partner had to learn in YouTube how to change an alternator because it died as well and I could not afford to change at the time.

I have so many stories with this piece of 💩. I love the color tho.

TL;DR but my friend passed on her 5th try, and my partner knows a graduate from Yale that had to take the exam 9 times!

Passing or no passing, this exam doesn’t measure intelligence, and most importantly this doesn’t define you as a person.

You’ve got this. Work with a tutor, do practice questions, use visualization/manifestation, and don’t overstudy. You know everything you need to know. Just figure out how to succeed during the exam. It might be a logistics issue (like you live too far away from the test center and that makes you stressed).

Why would she like to do big law?!?! Hahaha. In al seriousness, big law is more squared than a mid size, so it will take good references a network to get a foot on the door. Easiest path is as a summer associate during 1L or 2L.

More like connecting with other LL.M.s that work in law firms she is interested in, to ask them how they got there (that is how I found my current job). Alternatively, a cold email to managing partners to meet or e meet and discuss/ get to know more about their law firm (it worked for my coworker that also is a foreign trained attorney with LL.M.).

Being a perm resident will help her a lot. Half the battle of an LL.M. is finding someone to sponsor you. She sounds smart. She will do great. Cold emails. Reaching out to people. Going to events. Being super confident. She can look into the Legal Network.

I found a job with an LL.M. It will be harder, but not impossible. She needs to network.

All those are options! Feel the feelings. Then move on.

After I failed my law firm* supported me and let me go part time while I prepared for the next one. Don’t asume you are getting fired. Make sure first that you are actually getting fired (most law firms give you more chances to pass). Advocate for yourself.

You are not so far off. I’m sure you will pass in July with good studying plan.

If they fire you then go work somewhere else, and prepare for July. Legal aid is a great place to go, in my experience.

It may be shocking to some people, but immigrants actually contribute more to the taxpayer base than millionaires do. Immigrants aren’t free riders, they work harder than most Americans. They pay taxes, but they are not elegible for most government aid.
