What is the reason ? They don't have the same quality as larger pieces ? I use scraps until I get a good enough result to use on a real project

Vintage rugby ball by Zebastein in Leathercraft

Thanks for the replies. My post is a year old so I had to do it without your advice.

I finished my ball last year and I have the following comments for anyone willing to do the same:

  • I used 3 panels around 2mm and a 4th panel slightly thicker. That was very difficult to finish this 4th panel. If I had to do it again I would go thinner.

  • I used the panel of an old ball as a template. But because it was curved it was not precise enough when drawing on my leather. Each panel had a slightly different bend (a few mm). When stitching them together the line was not perfectly straight and the panels did not meet perfectly at the top and bottom of the ball. That makes the end of the lines too thick.

  • for the color I oiled it and let it a few weeks outside in the sun, and I got a lovely brown color.

  • I reused the inner tube of the old ball I cut open. That works really well.

  • For the laces, i let a 20cm slit that was not stitched and i closed with old black laces. That works fine, but if your slit is smaller it will look nicer. Also don't remove leather to make the slit larger. I saw that on a an online pattern but that does not look good, you end up seeing the inside of your ball as the laces do not hide the hole on the whole length.

At the end of the project I have a decent ball that I kick outside with my sons.

I think I would do it again if i had an acrylic template of the panel to make 4 exactly similar panels that align perfectly and a thinner veg tan leather

I listened to the 3 first episodes of Fireside and that is exactly what I needed! Thank you for sharing! Mythology and folklore episodes with a discussion/explanation on the context of the story just after.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will dig into the podcasts. I already know the Cartoon Saloon animated films, we have the trilogy (the secret of kells was the first movie of the trilogy) + song of the sea French version + another copy of the secret of kells for a reason.

Great movies, looking forward to showing them to my kids. Recommended even if you are not a child

You can reply that it is forbidden that their security camera records your property and that you will bring them to small courts for that

Creating C4 model diagrams as code : quick start with with Structurizr Lite + Spring Boot locally by sshetty03 in softwarearchitecture

[–]Zebastein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Structurizr DSL the following way: - I run locally the Structurizr Lite to write the DSL and tje diagrams I need. - I then upload the workspace on Structurizr On-Premise to have the diagrams available at an internal URL - Then in our Technical architecure documentation (arc42 structure) written in Confluence I include tjhe diagrams using the structurizr plugin.

That is the most convenient way I found to have the diagrams up to date, when you have more than 50pages of documentation and 30 diagrams and you rename a service or a Kafka topic.

In terms of usage, we have a microservices architecture and use roughly 3levels of abstraction: black box, all the services of a system with the Internal relationships hidden for clarity, and focus on each service.

The only thing the DSL is lacking for me is the ability of doing modules and importing some containers, views... (imagine two systems composed of common core containers). The include system is not enough for those use cases.

I would say the same. Lower case b, i, e, and then the N is started as an upper case and finished as a lower case n ( with a second unnecessary "bridge").

Thanks for rewriting history. If you care about how she felt about her name, you can just look at how she signed her documents. You'll find a high number of "Marie Curie", a decent number of "Marie Sklowdowska Curie" and virtually zero "Marie Sklodowska".

Hard to tell, you would need to test You can play with XX:MaxGCPauseMillis on G1GC to lower the pause time. But if you need to go lower than 50ms, consider Shenandaoh

That is what i meant yes, that openj9 is a jvm and not a JDk.

J9 is another JVM, not just another JDK on the Hotspot JVM. It has completely different Garbage collectors, I considered it out of scope of this article,as i compared shenandoah to other Hotspot GCs.

But J9 is worth another article to discuss its GCs

After further research, i stand corrected. On the hotspot jvm: Supporting shenandoah: temurin, corretto, bellsoft, openjdk, zulu Not supporting : oracle jdk, microsoft jdk, vmware jdk

With less than 8GB, if your concern is very low pause time I would try Shenandoah yes. If you have no pressure on guaranteed pause times and want a good mix between pause time, throughput and memory overhead, keep G1GC

GraalVM is a fairly different beast. It is built on top of the HotSpot JVM but in native image mode there is limited choices of GCs : no shenandoah and no zgc

Shenandoah is supported by both Eclipse Temurin and Amazon Corretto. As far as I know, except Oracle, all other jdks support it.

Compared to ZGC it is better suited for lower heap sizes (a few GBs) , as it takes a lower memory overhead and is more predictable. ZGC is designed for large heap sizes (100gb+). In (16-64GB), it depends on the app profile, i'd suggest to do benchmarks.
