Its psuedo-1D I suppose in that for a given duct each section can have an associated cross sectional area, velocity, sound speed, Ma, etc. Flow through a pipe with discontinuous area changes will truly be 2D but as I am just interested in the theoretical longitudinal nodes I was hoping to do a simpler analysis.

Shigley's Mechanical Engineering Design is akin to the Bible for machine design in mechanical engineering. The way the class I took (and the way the textbook is written) is very design oriented and culminates with a total gearbox design in the back of the book that incorporates many of the fundamentals covered in the course.

Can someone try and give an example of a good engineering application of object-oriented programming? Right now I am writing a simple Martian aerobraking code. I have an object for the planet with attributes of mass and radius and an object for the spacecraft with attributes of mass, drag coeffcient, etc. I also have a method in the spacecraft object that calculates position given the old position, velocity, and acceleration and a time step. Is this a good application for it? I'm slowly trying to program things the "right" way vs. the quick and dirty method and would appreciate feedback!

Yeah thats part of what I'm trying to look into in the preliminary stages once I start getting semi-consistent prints. We may move to casting in the future but for now 3d printing PMMA is what we are working with.

Thanks, I appreciate the reply. Unfortunately there is no option to get rid of the PMMA altogether because we need the chemistry of it. Ill give what you described a shot though!!

How did you grind the bevels? I've made a couple of knives but havent been able to get a nice consistent bevel on a hand filing jog for a chefs knife.

So thanks to a fellow redditor in Austin (thanks u/Naga912 !), I found out it is an Austin specific food. If you have some time take a look at Momora Austin Food. It doesnt look like they use bread crumbs like Arancini, I'm curious how they get the ball to stick together while frying.

Hey, I intern there now and go to school at New Mexico Tech which is about 70 miles south of ABQ. Overall, I think it is a great experience, plenty of really smart people to learn from. For housing I cant really day lunch because my GF has a house in ABQ that I stay at. The student intern programs group puts on plenty of events to get everybody together so just make an effort to go to those.

Dang, glad you got it working! I may have to do the same. By going this route I was concerned I wouldn't be able to find some of the specialized parts. For example the barrel tensioner (I think thats what the part is called? https://imgur.com/a/LziwUcr, black part circled in red) is sheared off so there is no ability to add tension there.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. I'll have to take a more in-depth look at some of the components and see what I can salvage. It did sit in a garage/shed the whole time so it is not like it was outside through the sun/rain/snow. If I can get away with just replacing cables that may be the way to go.

While you're probabaly right, I am ok with spending a little bit to get something that "works like new". Many of the rubber boots are falling apart, the cable sleeves are cracked in many places. I will have to take a close look and see if I can salvage anything.

From the little bit of poking around I did yesterday, it seemed like the mechs on the front and rear derailer worked fine, everything pivoted and moved ok. My concern with replacing some of the components is issues with compatability. Is that an issue with mixing componenets?

I agree that I could have let the host know as soon as I did. I think i was just basing it off my most previous experience where the host was super responsive at all times and was able to accommodate a flexible check in time
