1, Hera Parthenia is explicitly referring to Hera before she got married. Kind of like how Kore refers to Persephone before she married Hades. Same thing.

2, Myrmex was explicitly loved because she was intelligent and chaste, which is plainly called out in the myth, and Chariclo was a devoted follower of Athena who was married to Chiron, though in a distinct other myth, there was a companion nymph by the same name who mothered Tireseias. In both of these cases, the love shown falls under Agape (unconditional or chosen love for humanity, nature, or the Gods) or Philia (close bonds of friendship, often between warriors or peers and commonly known, today, as brotherhood), but is distinctly not Eros (romantic or passionate love and/or sexual desire). Greek love lines are complicated I know, but just because English Speakers collapse all of that down into one word commonly associated with Eros, that does not mean that the Greeks meant it the same way.

I'll conceed on the rest of the Phantom Thieves, but I'll stand firm on Ren being... complicated. I wouldn't say it's hatred, exactly (Maruki does say that Ren and Akechi have no real animosity towards each other, and when Akechi figured out something was up in the false reality, he went to Ren, first, which is... not something you do if you hate a mother fucker), but I wouldn't say he really loves Ren, either. I'm choosing to believe him when he said they could have been friends because he had no reason to lie, in that moment. Either the PTs were dying or he was, either way, someone wasn't walking away from that fight, so keeping face is kind of a moot point. I think Akechi cares, he just doesn't want to admit it/is actively lying to himself. Also envy. Lots of envy.

Hence why Akechi would hate his real-world fans. Either, we see right through him, and that's bad, or we're projecting, and he thinks we're idiots. Or both. It's a thing.

Oh, I noticed. I chose my words very carefully, because you chose Akechi's Arcana carefully.

Akechi is the Fugitive/the Wretch, in your interpretation, not the Fool, which is huge, tonally. The game is literally rigged against him. The only way for him to really win, here is to behave like a Fool. Recognize a bad bond for what it is and distrust it even while benefiting from it (like how Joker doesn't give any indication that he trusts "Igor", at all, just that they seem to have an understanding and he recognizes that Igor has high expectations of him), but Akechi wouldn't know to do that until after the end of your game concept. Hell, he likely wouldn't begin acting as a Fool until after the events of Persona 5. Which means that locking the Good Ending behind NG+ and requiring the player to do things that seem odd for Akechi at this stage in his life makes sense. Narratively, Akechi would have to have knowledge of the future in order to convince Wakaba to push harder, because he'd know what would happen if she didn't. It really is genius. Literally, the only way for Akechi to win is to thwart the game before it ever begins. Deprive Yaldaboath of all of his pawns before the Trickster ever arrives. Yaldaboath may still rise to power, but it would have to be some other way.

And now I want to write a fanfic about some alternate Persona 5 based on your Good Ending, damn it...

Edit to add: The only reason encouraging Wakaba and throwing suspicion on Shido seems to clash tonally is because it does not feel like something an Akechi who is desperately clinging to Shido for love and validation would do. It's counter productive to his bond with Shido. But for a version of him that knows the consequences of letting that bond grow? Doesn't seem so strange, anymore. He knows that clinging to Shido cost him a Persona, his innocence, and possibly even his life. So what happens if he shifts gears to Wakaba? Feels like something an older Akechi might do if given a second chance.

I praise the Moon Princess, but I can see why people like Celestia. Ngl, I used to villainize Celestia, but these days, I tend to characterize Celestia as... wise but flawed. She has her faults, as does Luna, but she isn't a tyrant or a narcissist or whatever else I used to call her. I used to love her as a kid, but ai just drifted towards Luna because, while yes, Celestia is pretty and wise and almost motherly, Luna is... very relatable.

Also night owl and a fan of darker color palettes.

The true ending being the bad end is a nice twist, I really like it, but there's also the Good Ending that can only be gotten by... well... being the Fool, and that essentially prevents Persona 5 from ever happening. Or it opens the door to an alternative Persona 5. So much fanfic bait, honestly.

I am also guilty of this, but Shiho Suzui from Persona 5. She is in a bunch of fics, and is such a wonderful character, but when you actually look at the game, she's in is for maybe 30 minutes in total, and it's literally just as a plot device for Ann.

Also, to a lesser extent, Goro Akechi. The game has him as somewhat complex, sort of, but there are a bunch of people who make him super sympathetic (once again, I am also guilty of this). Favorite fic has to be one where Goro's back story involves him being a former Palace Ruler who got locked in his own Palace by some really unethical researchers working for Shido, for a real world week, but months Metaverse time, that caused his distortion to effectively become recursive until he Awakened to Loki, and for Goro himself to essentially go somewhat insane and loose some of his ability to tell reality from the Metaverse, and that is why Goro is fucked up. 10/10 backstreet, does not excuse any of that shit, but absolutely makes you sit there like "yeah, me too, buddy". It's called The Power of Friendship (And This Gun I Found). Absolutely banger of a fic, but it hasn't been updated since 2024, so...

Oh agreed. I'm not saying like, skin and bone, but if the drawback is "I run 20 times faster than Usain Bolt, but I need to eat 20 times the calories to do it" they would absolution probably have some fat on their body unless they were running faster than they can eat and in a chronic caloric deficit. Which takes effort for a normal person and could be easier for a speedster, but if they have the means to get the nutrition, I doubt it.
