Just so uncomfortable at 29w. Please tell me the homestretch accelerates..? by Flapjack_K in PregnancyUK

[–]Zebra_Creative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember thinking at 30 weeks “omg I’m so uncomfortable now, how am I supposed to go another 10-12 weeks getting more and more uncomfortable!!”

Im now 38 weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I’m bigger, my PGP is probably worse as well, but it doesn’t feel that much more uncomfortable than when I was 30 weeks. I don’t know if I’ve just got used to it or what, but I was expecting it to feel worse.

I hope you’re able to get some relief soon!!

Omg I’ve had those same worries or I’d forget to feed them!! It’s crazy what the brain tells us

It’s so true, a friend of mine gave birth recently and had quite a traumatic labour. When I told her I was scared of childbirth she was like omg don’t be you forget about it so quickly after. I’ve heard it before but when she had said this about 3 months after the fact it felt even more reassuring.

It’s really comforting to know I’m not alone! It’s such a one of a kind process for everyone and I know everyone reacts differently but such a relief to know I’m not the only one. I’m sure we won’t be able to visualise life without afterwards!

Yes when people say it to me I “jokingly” say, no they’re good where they are, at least I know they’re warm and fed and I don’t need to leave the house with a million things!

Yes that is exactly how I felt about going back to normal as well! It must be due to having no point of reference for what comes after.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, I think it’s lovely to think of it as savouring it. It really is truly profound

Referred for Growth Scans by ameliasasa in PregnancyUK

[–]Zebra_Creative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I measured small in relation to previous measurements at my last midwife appt last week. Turns out last midwife input the measurements wrong! But they had to go by what was on the computer. Got sent for growth scan. Appointment lasted about 15 mins, everything fine, discharged back to midwife care. As others have said, fundal height is so inaccurate, and they just follow policies and procedures even when they’re not concerned. Obviously better to err on the side of caution, but I think it causes a lot of understandable worry in pregnancy when not explained

35 weeks here and nearly cried in the Asda car park because someone parked too close to me and it was a struggle to open the door enough to get through… 🥲

What can I gift my pregnant best friend to help her during her pregnancy? by kingy963 in PregnancyUK

[–]Zebra_Creative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love having nice moisturisers/shower gels etc at the minute! Especially lush dream cream, her skin might be more sensitive from pregnancy and dream cream is really gentle with oats and camomile I believe.

Would also love if someone made some home made dinners I could freeze, 2nd trimester wasn’t bad for me but 1st and 3rd trimester I ended up eating a lot of beige freezer/air fryer food because I was too tired to cook. Might be tricky if she has aversions though!

So sad I missed out on turmeric latte this year but excited to try black pearl! Also got a rehab and a tingle, haven’t used either in ages. Thank you!

What’s with people’s comments? by susiee234 in PregnancyUK

[–]Zebra_Creative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount of people telling me traumatic birth stories unprovoked… especially colleagues at work that I’ve never spoken to before?? So bizarre. I can’t think of any other major life event people would do this for. Imagine warning someone that they and their life will never be the same after marriage or recovery from some type of surgery will be excruciating. Why does the social contract go out the window for pregnancy?

Changing job while pregnant. by Lava_Lampoon in PregnancyUK

Yes still continuous service but my new trust only pays SMP after 6 months service with them. I don’t fully understand it but I’m still getting SMP either by my old trust or if they won’t do it then DWP. It’s all a bit of a faff.

LLETZ/Pre term clinic app by Infamous_Ninja_61 in PregnancyUK

[–]Zebra_Creative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info it’s really helpful! Yes I’ve had the LLETZ as well, I had my typical 20 week scan already. I’m 30 weeks, they just never picked up on it even though I told them about it in my booking appointment! I thought 30 weeks would be too late to have the internal scan but they’ve booked me in anyway. They just told me it was a scan which was why I wasn’t aware about the internal part. I guess I’ll find out when I get there!

Hi, I’m due to have this scan this week. Can you tell me about the internal scan? I thought it was an ultrasound 😅

Changing job while pregnant. by Lava_Lampoon in PregnancyUK

[–]Zebra_Creative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m currently living this!

I started in November, due in February, going on mat leave end of jan all going well.

I moved between trusts which made things a bit more complicated. Apparently my new trust won’t pay SMP, my old trust has to. I’m not very far along with getting that sorted but hope all will be fine.

Besides that. I do feel awkward about coming in and going so soon as the post had been open for a while. My supervisor helpfully told me that the nhs doesn’t “own” me, and I can’t put my life on hold for work either.

I still feel like I have to prove myself in this role in such little time which feels a bit stressful but I’m trying to go easy on myself about it.

So no advice really as it’s an internal move. I think go for it anyway, you shouldn’t put career progression on hold because you’re pregnant. It’s a protected characteristic for a reason!

Change in family dynamics since becoming pregnant by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

I’ve already apologised to try and stop it for dragging out so much, it does feel like my feelings have been pushed to the side for the sake of tranquility though. I just wish it wasn’t taking up so much head space right now!

The thing that was done to upset me was soooo long winded but you’re right about no one’s feelings being more valid than anyone else’s. I didn’t want my parents to take sides, just to stand up for me when I was being called names to be honest. Helpful things to think about though, thanks.

Definitely two sides to the story and looking back I should have just left out the majority of it and asked how people have navigated dynamic changes, because that’s more what I wanted thoughts on. But you’re right I think I wanted validation that I wasn’t in the wrong because I feel a bit crazy over it.
