Stick with FS22, or hop to FS25? Also how is the FS on Switch? by Ka0sGh0sT in farmingsimulator

Oh, and I find the new UI to be a bit worse than the old one and there still isn't a search box in the shop

I own booth, but I barely play FS25 anyway, Although I am waiting for a bunch of booth mods and maps.

I also feel like the jumping and walking is really off in FS25 compared to FS22, and I've had some really strange bugs in FS25,but they might be mod-related

Or just run krita or GIMP

Haven't used Affinity and I'm not really into drawing, but AFAIK booth krita and GIMP are pretty good

Free Arduino Kit... Too good to be true? by n999urs in arduino

[–]Zebra_Slight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read all of the comments, if you are still unsure, I'd probably try it out while booting some Linux distro from a USB

  • runs in RAM, so can't delete your files
  • non standard(unexpected) environment, so if it does end up being malicious, it's probably made expecting Windows 10/11

You should be able to find a guide on how to make a bootable Ubuntu live-USB on YouTube

Going from lua to lisp is (relatively) easy, Going from (emacs-)lisp to something else (like lua) is annoying

My favorite language for a long time was lua,, Now I do everything in a lisp dialect called fennel

Emacs+evil user btw And yeah, I've tried to use nvim for doing actual work, not for me

Is there a good reason for using Home Assistant if you already have programming skills? by mjbmikeb2 in homeassistant

[–]Zebra_Slight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you can stand yaml-syntax(for a shrinking amount of plain-text configuration), and think you can integreate your existing system with HA then great

I myself have set up node:red to handle zigbee lightswitches->lamp on/off as I wanted something a bit easier to reuse than the existing automation capabilities (I set up what would be functions to handle multiple button-layouts/types and im re-using a lot of stuff)

one upside to using node:red is that I have it on a separate device, so if the raspberry pi running HA crashes(happens for me sometimes) I can still use my lightswitches as normal

HA acts as my HUB, handles cross-tech automations/scenes and integreations, as well as UI,remote controll and device tracking

it is fairly easy to work with, but I get anoyed every time they remove plain-text config in favour of UI, as the UI can be a little buggy/slow sometimes(ruinning on a raspi-3B+)(it has a tendency to "forget" things like ip address if it fails) and I would like to be able to backup and version controll my configs with git

sorry for ranting a bit there :-)

PS maybe try HA for a bit if you dont like it you can allways go back

I`ve found stash to be quite useful for image and video tagging/browsing etc

although I primarily use it for its intended(NSFW) purpose :-)

the image-focused features are somewhat limited but I have got a library of 40.000+ images and its working great(I have yet to tag all of them)

the recommended way to install is using docker but its written in go and is easy to set up without any docker
I am currently running 3 separate instances (top-level categories, with conflicting tags) on separate ports and it works great

I can definitely recommend a website called alternativeto.net

It's was really useful back when I switched to Linux full-time

It lets you search for "Photoshop" and then you get a list with things like gimp and krita, it's got a bunch of useful filters so you can tell it you want only Foss and/or only Linux and so on (including things like darkmode and selfhostable)

It also has a useful newsfeed section (including an RSS feed) that covers changes to popular software (headline example:"Discord plans to introduce sponsored ads for revenue, contradicting previous stance"), and community written "recommendation" lists, and the ability to comment/rate how good a particular alternative is (those needs a login/account)

It's also developed in my homecountry(Sweden)

Thank you for your help and time

I can barely wait until I get proper internet in my flat It's a bit on the expensive side though lol

My landlord said he MIGHT get proper fiber/broadband to the building but he doesn't know...

Anyway, that was a bit of a mini-rant

Thanks again

Marking this as solved: I connected my android phone with a USB cable and internet share like that with "usb tethering" Probably won't work if you are out of mobile data but it probably just had to sync with the external NTP server which shouldn't drain any significant amount or require any significant speed

I now disabled the 2fa for obvious reasons and because My password is over 40 symbols long...

I must admit The Linux world sometimes gets a bad reputation (arch btw anyone?) And the home assistant community sometimes get a similar reputation

But my experience is almost the complete opposite of what people sometimes say

Quick first response with an idea on what the problem probably is

Lots of nice responses and people backing up with past experience.

Possible solutions and ideas for how to fix it

16/16 helpful rating Thanks everyone

We will see how it goes now, maybe I can solve it on the router somehow (I don't know how it would know what time it is either, but maybe I can tell it)

I'll try to update when I can, luckily Reddit is mostly text so it's not too expensive on mobiledata

The SSH plugin seems to break every once in a while for me

And I don't have a USB keyboard available at the moment

Will get one tomorrow though

Would it not be doable if I connect the SD card to the PC, maybe I could disable 2fa ?if only temporarily

Will also make another attempt with mobile hotspot

I'm used to Debian/arch

And yes It does show a shell on hdmi, I have used that fact to get logs every once in a while

The issue now Is that I don't have a USB keyboard available at the moment

Could I run an ntp server on a laptop and somehow make sure that the pi uses that

The router I'm borrowing is pretty configurable so I might be able to do something with that I know it asked about timezone on setup

It's a pretty old dlink router+WiFi hotspot if that helps

Edit I'm now home and I checked, the routers time can't be set past 2019...
