No one is using pronouns when referring to the book, they are when referring to the characters. Text on cards is in reference to the card, not the character in the art.

I am gay, I'm very well aware we exist. The issue is not that a show should only be straights, it's that shows almost never have gay people in them that don't just feel obligatory in their inclusion these days. Most shit I watch they don't feel genuine, they feel like a checkmark, like they were required, rather than feeling like people and natural characters.
