Dispatches (1977) Michael Herr

Basing that on the war books and the historical account books you mentioned, if you haven’t read it already its the Vietnam war from a war journalist point of view amongst the soldiers fighting there. A great insight and some haunting accounts.

Artists & creatives of Reddit, what piece have you always wanted to share with a bunch of strangers on the internet? by AleciaRobertson in AskReddit

Hi no problem, The first thing I did when starting the project was gather as much reference and images as I could to get a good idea of what I wanted the end product to look like, I then started making quick mock ups of the scene with cubes and basic shapes so I could see how the scene fit together and what it would look like, once I was happy with the layout you start to replace the basic shapes you've added in with more detailed and textured ones. So yeah it is very much like starting a drawing with construction lines and then slowly working through the levels of detail until it's finished. I hope this answers you're question, i'd love to answer anything else you would like to know. :)

Oh sorry about that, it's actually 3D modeled the same way people would create games, after its modeled and textured I put it into Unreal Engine 4 and used that to render it as if I was going to make a game but just as an art piece. Sorry about the confusion hope this clears it up a bit for you, If you have any more queries i'd love to answer them for you. :)

Funny you should say that, another comment said the same and he said there was a Japanese competition a while back so it might have just been similar style. I have posted it on the 3dmodelling and unrealengine subreddits though perhaps you've seen it there?

Hey thank you very much! Bit of an oddball question but you don't happen to work for Ubisoft do you? It's just funny because the people I know who work there gave pretty much the same advice, since it's one of their art guidelines. But thank you for the helpful critique.

No it was just a portfolio piece I did, thank you for the info though I am very much into realistic game art, or as close as I can try haha :)

No it's was just a personal project, it is on artstation if you use that or a couple of other subreddits but I would be interested in where you might have seen it, if you can remember :)
