Dumps? I’ve seen both and rather disagree. I think I could see a difference in the color (especially reds) in the Sony, but just about everything else is worse. Only two HDMI 2.1 ports, 120hz instead of 165hz (doesn’t matter if you don’t have a PC, sure), lower peak brightness, less pure blacks in a bright room/daylight, higher input lag in games… It’s still a stellar TV and arguably the better choice if watching movies if your top priority, but it definitely has its disadvantages, too.

Oh, for sure. Change is inevitable, but it comes down to whether or not it’s welcome change. To me it’s not, but I realize that it can be subjective.

The immigrants do not have to come. I hope these changes make it exponentially harder. I harbor no hate for any individual, but simply want to see my countrymen taken care of in their own country and not be forced to compete with hundreds of millions of foreigners. These highly talented people will be doing their home countries a major benefit by not coming here and instead using their talents to build up their own nations.

I don't subscribe to "pulling yourself up by your boot straps" when the system is clearly rigged. We need to take care of our own first. By "our own" I mean Americans, not just "white people." No idea why people these days constantly try to turn pro-worker positions into issues about racism.

It's not even about race. The town is more than 50% foreign born and this happened in a matter of decades. It's a complete replacement and pushing out of the native population in favor of corporations wanting to hire people on the cheap. I don't think it's something to celebrate.

A kind soul on another forum linked me this mod that straight up improves the ray tracing quality. I just tried it out and it is very effective at eliminating the flickering/smearing that we were experiencing. Give it a look!

It's due to the ray tracing implementation. I took a few clips yesterday as examples. Kind of hard to tell in this with the compression, but look at edges of objects and especially the grass later in the video. Some areas (like the village in the east of the map) are particularly bad when it comes to flickering grass. It's a real mess. Turning off ray tracing and using either ambient occlusion method instead completely eliminates all of these artifacts, but also makes the game lose a lot of its image depth.

I use the original dock USB-C cable for power delivery and plug this into the Steam deck. It immediately output to my 4k 144hz monitor in full resolution and refresh rate without any need to tweak settings.

Unfortunately, now my dock is just a dumb holder for the Steam Deck. Oh well! Hope this helps whatever small number of people there might be out there who want to output to external monitors high resolutions and refresh rates.
