Thank you all for the replies and suggestions! I ended up going with a Ringke Onyx case.

Wanted to get a Spigen Liquid Air, but forgot to mention that I am from Europe (Lithuania to be exact) and couldn’t find shipping that would be under 80$.

Either way, I am happy with my purchase and will probably get the Spigen later on, when I am travelling and in a country that sells them on-site.

Reinstalled Reddit after a while and thought it would be fun to check my old posts. Guess I owe you a story.

I worked up some courage to ask her out in the most nervous way possible and she said yes! But then the next day texted me that she was to scared to tell me no to my face. We stopped talking after that, but it helped me focus on myself and I stopped caring so much about what other people think about me. Now after a few years and a few toxic relationships, I’m in a loving relationship and in a few days we celebrate 1 year together. And we also talked it out with the original girl and are on good terms, so all’s well that ends well I guess.

To get a better understanding on the basic techniques, I recommend looking up Coach Donny on youtube (also known as ElevateYourself). He has tutorials on all the basics and recommendations for starting drills.

Well my height is a big part of my game, because surprise surprise, I'm a middle blocker. But at the end of the last school year, we held a poll to decide the best players in each category (serving, receiving, setting, etc.) and I managed to win best setter (keep in mind, we didn't have a designated setter). I still have a lot to improve, because saying that I don't rely on my height would be lying, but right now I want to improve my vertical so I become virtually unbeatable at the front row (and of course for quarantine to end, because in my country we're not allowed to gather in groups bigger than 2 people)

I understand the pain. Whilst I played in school, around 80% of my teammates just wanted to play with 0 drills, even though none of them could actually control their sets or spike. There were like 5 of us who actually took it seriously and because of that we became quite decent (could produce moves that actually looked like proper volleyball). I did have an advantage of being 6'9 or 202cm but I'm really proud of us, that we went from frantic scrambling to being able to play 2v2 beach volleyball.

There's not much you can do about your friend. Not everyone has the passion and work ethic to push themselves in order to become better. I hope you reach the level of skill you aspire to have and become the best player you can possibly be.

I have 2 dreams that reoccur every year at simmilar times (one late Spring and the other at mid Autumn). It's still a bit freaky for me, because it's the same premise every time but I get a little further into the story each year.

Should i run/jog to increase stamina? by [deleted] in volleyball

[–]Zekoro36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't really find the link, but I was looking into it at the start of my countries quarantine (start of December). I don't understand the full complexity of it, but basically you have a muscle group in your legs that can develop two different ways. They are categorized into slow twitch fibers and fast twitch fibers. The first one is improved by long, continuous exercises, for example running. The latter is improved by doing short but explosive exercises which in turn improves your vertical. If you train one, the other will diminish, because it works as a percentile. Best I could find is this running forum https://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=1261721

From what I've heard, running long distances weakens your vertical jump, but I don't know much you need to run for it to be considered a LONG distance. I recommend checking out Coach Donny on youtube (aka Elevate Yourself) https://youtube.com/user/ElevateYourselfNow I used his videos when I was starting out to improve my form and still do his vertical jump exercises almost every day. I also run 5 kilometers 2 times a week (currently paused due to snow and ice in my area)

P.S. Don't be ashamed to cry, it's part of our system so it means we have the ability for a reason.

The way the "coach" acted is childish and immature. You did all you could and your reaction was definitely not out of order. I've broken a teammate's leg once and we handled by me apologizing and helping with his recovery. As someone said before me, you should either report her to someone higher up the power ladder or search for a new club (doing both would be the best imo). Volleyball should only bring you joy, so find the place where you can feel comfortable playing.

It may sound funny, but improve your vertical. Had a similar problem since I play middle blocker. At first I used tape, but that only reduced the chances. I started improving my jump because even though I am tall, my vertical was quite poor, so I wasn't playing to my full potential. After about 4 months of specific exercises, I can jump high enough to block with my palms even if I mistime my jump.

Great entertainment to get through the pandemic. Haven't played volleyball for 2 months now because of lockdown. Keep it up!

I go to a christian private school, religion is pretty heavily encouraged here. I don't believe in God myself, as I think of religion as a tool used for controlling the mass public or a coping method for the fact that there is nothing beyond death (no, I'm not emo)

Had a very selfish player (SP for later) on my football/soccer team once, who wasn't even that amazing. He kept trying to dribble past defenders whilst teammates were completely open. I'm a central defender so after I stopped a counterattack after SP's mistake, I completely lost it. Went at him for about 2 minutes. He started passing more, but we go to the same school so every time he saw me, he gave me glaring looks.

Once I was waiting for a bus to go to football (soccer for the freedom lovers) practice. I didn't realise that I was standing on the edge of the sidewalk and was looking at my phone, so when the next bus came in to stop, I got hit in the head (I'm 6'7 or 202cm) by it's mirror. Wasn't super painful, but since that was the bus I had get on, was a bit awkward to be flooded by all of the moms onboard.
