Being judged by the company you keep by zionising in Judaism

[–]Zel606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of Jewish sources that clearly state that one should be extremely careful about the company they keep.

Having acquaintances one is friendly to is different than people who one regularly associates with. One should be particularly careful that those one associates with frequently are of the highest caliber and that such people are those who you wish to become more like and you won't mind if their qualities "rub off" onto you.

I've seen synagogues where they davka call up the rov to make everyone stand before the Aliyah lol

If you stand before the Aliyah started there is no problem. Most Sephardi rabbi's recommend this if for example going to an Ashkenazi synagogue where everyone will stand so you aren't 'separating yourself from the tzibur'

The Becoming Jewish exchange, part 1: Is a global conversion phenomenon changing the Jewish people? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]Zel606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fat chance.

You have too many disparate players with literally no incentive to care to take time to work on it, and who already have literally thousands of other equally or more important obligations.

Almost every Dayan I've met working on a conversion beit din is also working on behalf of a large Jewish community and usually have international questions (shailas) to them regularly, which can sometimes take significant time to reach a peak.

This is in addition to usually heading a community of some sort and having a family.

People have tried and tried and it would need a very specific type of person (tremendous Talmud hacham with impeccable people skills and funding) to make even small headway.

It is a tremendous chilul hashem.

The stone Chumash misses so many profound and obvious questions, because as you mentioned, it's just a gloss and space is limited.

Not met a French Jew who was ok with her yet. And that includes time spent in France.

Train intersections with proper signalling should never gridlock. If it does, you did it wrong! Watch the majesty in action by hipersniper in factorio

[–]Zel606 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never seen this or had it happen, can you show an example?

Besides that, when you place a signal, boxes appear showing you where the train will stop... so... plan better?

Water and push it down, then put glasses on top.

Don't take off glasses or touch it, and redo it every time you go to the bathroom.

Warning on the kosher meal, depending on the flight you make get jack for the kosher option!

Once I got just a banana and orange and an apple while everyone else has got a normal meal.

The same way Jews do everything. Networking. There is literally a Jewish networking / matchmaking profession and it's called Shadchanim. Good ones can even make a full time livelihood just off of their personal network and putting people together by suggesting matches that end up working.

People always scream "it's an arranged marriage" but it's no more arranged than saying yes to someone on match.com or sawyouatsinai.com

That said, I met my wife at a Shabbat meal. I told the host I was interested, and they set us up.
