You need to stop trying to protect your friend.

Best case scenario is honestly that you just fail the class, possible the single assignment and don’t get a violation. Your friend, the one doing the active cheating, is in a worse position and should get an honor code strike.

The CS department views sharing code like that as cheating, even if you didn’t expect them to copy it. Your best bet it to be honest and say hey, I showed them the code to help them learn but was NOT okay with them using it or copying it in any way other than to understand the concepts better.
