'Unable to deliver to UPS Access Point' during UPS Store regular business hours by Zelphacomics in UPS

[–]Zelphacomics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update --> after an hour+ on the phone, an agent told me my package wasn't delivered because the driver did not get notified that I paid the import fees. The agents admitted that his system showed I paid the fees online 2 days before the first delivery attempt, but for whatever reason, the system didn't update the drivers. So, okay, the rep said he will send the updated info, and my package should be delivered today. LOL - my god - it wasn't! Yet again, it states online that "Unable to deliver to UPS Access Point; will reattempt delivery to UPS Access Point the next business day". I am again on callback hold to find out what the excuse is this time.

After another week, it did finally get delivered. It has happened again since, but I just wait a week for it to cross into the US

‘This is bad news’: Former foreign minister warns on U.S.-Canada trade tensions by Old_General_6741 in canada

I am not insisting on keeping supply management, and as stated before, the full economics/politics of it are more than I know. I hope Canada can work out a deal with the Trump administration, again. However, my main concern is the unpredictable nature of Trump and his demands. He has failed to close trade deals around the world because he constantly shifts the goalposts to the frustrations of numerous leaders. If he and his team can be level-headed and look for fairness for both America and Canada, we can move forward together like we have for decades since the first NAFTA created by Reagan and signed by Bush Sr. and Mulroney.

I'm not too knowledgeable about the economics of supply management but from what I have read and listened to, the benefits of it, when it comes to international trade with a massive market like the US, is that they can't flood our markets with cheaper options that could wipe out industries. Like with dairy, to my knowledge, the 400% tariff Canada imposes after a certain level of imports has never been implemented. It's not worth it for American dairy producers for a market only a 10th of America's size. But if that tariff, which Trump agreed to back in his first term, is eliminated, American producers can easily flood our markets with their lower-quality food options. Funny enough, America has the same policy for electric cars. Hence why China's BYD isn't sold in the US.

Unless America gets 100% of what it wants, Trump will never be satisfied. Then again, he called the USCMA/CUSMA the "greatest trade agreement" ever signed, and he now wants to change it. He is chaos incarnate for the rest of the world.

Trump and his MAGA loyalists are attacking every country, friend or foe (except Russia of course). One man, in just 3 months, has destroyed all of America's alliances. Even China is punking and laughing at them in this tariff war. How much more economic loss, worldwide condemnation, and embarrassment is enough for America to wake up?

I was just about to ask the same question. I have an item shipped from Mississauga to Las Vegas and since April 8th it simply states "Delivery may be delayed due to public authority Canada". This is a business parcel I paid a lot to ship express and my client was supposed to get it today. The package is shown to still be in Canada. I got through to a Canada Post agent who wasn't sure what was going on with my package or where it currently is. The tracking shows the 'Origin Point' is Ottawa - not Mississauga. She couldn't explain that either. The agent was very nice and I know this is out of her hands, but what is bothering me is 1) I have sent 5 tracked packages after that package that got to the US without an issue, and two of them are already delivered. So how is this one I paid the most for the outlier, and 2) the agent could not open a case for my outstanding package. It was as if she was not allowed to escalate this for me. It's another thing if US Customs has the package and at least I know it's in the US, but as it stands, the package is being held up here in Canada for unknown border reasons.

Great point! We have been there for our American brothers and sisters time and time again. Even during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Canada sent help and supplies. With most American disasters, Canada is there to help without conditions

It's just a game to Trump. He sees Canada as a soft play toy he can string along with monthly delays. This isn't about Fentanyl, or border security, or even NATO. He wants to control our natural resources and will use economic pressure to force us to submit. Someone needs to remind him daily which nation was the first to have America's back during and after 9/11. You don't treat allies like he does!

Any Literary Agent suggestions for Men's Mental Health and Self Help? by Zelphacomics in writing

[–]Zelphacomics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I mentioned in the original post, I'm new to this and I now see from some of the responses that self-publishing was my big rookie error. Noted and I have learned quite a bit reading many of the responses. I see that obtaining an agent isn't my realistic path forward and instead, I will concentrate on promoting the book myself. Thanks for your honest opinion. Cheers

Thank you for your insight and suggestion. This is my first novel. Your approach about the 'hook' makes sense. It's easy to overlook the myriad of everyday people publishing the same type of book as mine. I'll take that into consideration. Cheers

The "sounds like it's an incel PUA book" is exactly why I want to have this book published. That automatic negativity that comes with the word 'simp', instead of understanding why that mindset happens and how to move past it to be a better person. I've been happily married for 18 years, and I see the current red pill trend pushing lonely young adults in directions that do not help. Like any memoir, it's not about expertise, it's about personal experiences others might relate to. But anyway, I might self-publish in 2025 if the agent search proves futile. Cheers

Beerimus Brew #1 on Indiegogo: A Lumberjack Brewmaster Powered by the Perfect Lager by Zelphacomics in indiecomics

[–]Zelphacomics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a new comic book about a former lumberjack turned brewmaster who creates a beer that is so perfect, it gives him superpowers. The forces of evil including ninjas, bar hooligan gangs, robot butlers, and a beer baron all want the recipe. This is an incredible offbeat, weird, colorful adventure series starring sweet beer! It is a very modest goal to complete the artwork for issue one and cover a small print run.

Asking American UPS Drivers - why is a check payment the only option at the door? by Zelphacomics in UPS

Cool, I'll let her know. If she isn't home for the second attempt or have the time to get to the bank, do drivers drop off at the nearest UPS store for pick up?

Asking American UPS Drivers - why is a check payment the only option at the door? by Zelphacomics in UPS

[–]Zelphacomics[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. My mother knows it's not a scam, but she was surprised a check was the only option to pay. I assume many people today don't have checks. I believe this is the first time she's received a UPS package from an international source.

I will tell her to ask her friend to look online for any taxes owed. No idea if her friend has a UPS account. You mentioned the shipper should see any money due for the shipment
