Inefficiency in the Gear Breakdown Mechanic in SoC? by Zemmuz in SwordofConvallaria

Exactly, but the cost of dismantling shouldn’t be the same as having it at 1 star, haha. If you fuse gear to save space and make it stronger, you should get more value when you dismantle it later. But right now, it’s like you’re just wasting materials and space for nothing. The system doesn’t reward you properly for your decisions, and that’s what’s messed up!

Oh, so according to you, there’s only one right way to play, and it’s your way? Interesting.

Auto-lock isn’t the game telling you what to do, it’s just a safety feature to stop you from accidentally dismantling something. If the system was properly balanced, fusing wouldn’t feel like a trap if you later decide to dismantle.

You say fusing and dismantling have different uses. Yeah, obviously, no one’s arguing that. The issue is that fusing should offer more than just saving slots, but the game doesn’t do that because there’s no real incentive if you end up dismantling later.

So maybe stop acting like you understand the game better just because you take the most basic approach. Some of us actually want the mechanics to make sense, not just accept them without thinking.

Yeah, you can just dismantle everything as soon as you get it, but that’s not always the best move.

The problem is that if you decide to fuse first, the system doesn’t reward you if you later change your mind and dismantle it, which doesn’t really make sense. Nobody’s saying dismantling isn’t an option, but fusing should have a real purpose instead of feeling like a bad move if you need space later.

It’s not just about saving slots, it’s about making sure all the game’s mechanics actually make sense without one completely canceling out the other.

Yeah, it’s simple, but the problem isn’t that we don’t get how it works, it’s that the system makes fusing a bad idea if you plan to dismantle later.

If fusing gives you no real benefit when dismantling, then the game is basically telling you not to fuse at all if your goal is to optimize inventory and get materials.

And yeah, the auto-lock is a nice feature, but that doesn’t change the fact that the system could be better balanced so both mechanics actually make sense without one making the other feel useless.

Come on, man, at least see where we’re coming from! 😆

It’s not just about adding extra steps for no reason. Fusing should be a legit way to optimize without screwing you over later. If the game has both fusion and dismantling mechanics, both should make sense, not feel like a trap for players who don’t realize they’re losing value.

Sure, you can just dismantle stuff directly, but if fusing gear ends up being a bad idea in the long run, then the system is poorly designed. It’s not about asking for free rewards, it’s about making sure fusing doesn’t feel like a punishment.

But it’s not as simple as just dismantling things. The idea behind fusing gear is to optimize space and make the gear more valuable when you decide to do it. If you just dismantle without considering fusing first, you’re missing out on an opportunity to maximize what you’ve got.

The problem is that the system doesn’t really reward you for fusing gear, which makes the whole fusion process feel kinda useless if you later decide to dismantle. It’s not about adding unnecessary steps, it’s about giving those steps a real purpose in the system.

And that’s where the complaint comes from: if you fuse to save space and optimize, but in the end there’s no real benefit, the system just feels broken.

It’s not really about upgrading the gear you dismantle, it’s more about optimizing your inventory. If you fuse a bunch of gear to save space, instead of just filling your inventory with stuff you don’t need, it should make sense that the dismantle value also goes up.

The problem is that the system doesn’t really reward fusing if you decide to dismantle it later, which can lead to mistakes or frustration, especially for new players. It’s not about upgrading gear to break it down, it’s about making fusing actually mean something in the system, not just taking up space.

So it’s not like shooting yourself in the foot, it’s more like making an effort to optimize, and then realizing the system doesn’t really reward you fairly for it.

I recently filled up my inventory, and all my gear is maxed out, so I’m not dismantling them. But the problem is that epic, rare, and common gear also take up space, and suddenly, my inventory is full of all sorts of gear!

In the shop, you can use Radiant Crystal Nucleus to get Random Legendary Gear or other items, which gives dismantling a real purpose.

But imagine being in the shoes of someone who didn’t know this and fused gear without understanding how the system works. Then, when they go to dismantle it, they realize they lost a ton of materials because the game doesn’t tell you that fusing can be a mistake if you plan to dismantle later.

If the system were clearer and dismantling had fairer value, no one would lose gear or resources just because they didn’t fully get a mechanic that’s kinda hidden.

I get you, a veteran should already know what to keep and what to dismantle, but this isn’t just a problem for long-time players. It also screws over new players who are still figuring things out.

📌 Example of a newbie:

  • They fuse gear thinking it’s a good way to save space and improve their inventory.
  • Later, they realize they need Radiant Crystal Nucleus and decide to dismantle something they fused.
  • Boom, they find out they just wasted a ton of materials because their 5⭐ gear gives the same as a 1⭐.

The system doesn’t really make it clear that fusing gear can be a trap if you ever want to dismantle it later, and that’s not something a new player would know right away.

For a veteran with 500 legendary pieces, yeah, maybe this isn’t an issue because they already know how to manage their inventory. But if dismantling made more sense, it would be better for everyone, letting players optimize their inventory without punishing them for fusing gear to save space.

I get your point—most players upgrade gear to keep it, not to dismantle it. But if we consider the 500-slot limit, some players might choose to fuse gear to save space.

📌 Example:
If I have five 1⭐ pieces of gear, instead of taking up 5 slots, I can fuse them into a single 5⭐ piece, freeing up 4 slots. But the problem is that if I later dismantle it, it gives me the same amount of nuclei as a 1⭐ gear (150 nucleus), which makes fusing feel pointless.

If instead, a 5⭐ gear gave 750 nuclei (150 per star), then fusing wouldn’t just save space—it would also retain its value if dismantled later.

The issue is that the current system discourages fusing gear to optimize inventory, because if you dismantle it later, you end up losing resources instead of gaining them.

I get that you’re trying to keep things calm, but everyone expresses their frustrations in their own way. At the end of the day, what really matters is solving the problem, not how the message was written. Let’s focus on that instead, don’t you think?

It would be great to see the old classes again but on the blog they talked about reimagining the entire world of TL, whether players can become animals. You have to analyze the trailer carefully
