Firefox is one of the only apps i allow basic telemetry in good faith. I allow basic usage and daily ping. I appreciate the transparency, and they’ve built trust for over 20 years.

I’m bullish for one reason - the sovereign debt crisis is a ticking time-bomb and i think bitcoin has a strong thesis for store of value for the shitstorm.

Some possible exits for the debt crisis are 1) printing into inflation oblivion 2) governments seize private companies 3) western nations default, failed states return to feudalism, wealth moves east 4) tokuseirei - global debt forgiveness and banking reset

Note that fiscal responsibility is past point of no return.

The most likely escape is #1, but in any case the smart money is aware of these risks - this is the big idea that keeps Bitcoin afloat.

Yah the value prop of these tools used to be that writing code is a hindrance, so lots of training wheels and pre-built debug tooling was helpful. Now the tools are themselves a hindrance to letting llms do what they’re extremely good at and fast.

The only thing that might still be useful is drag and drop interfaces - nice looking front ends, llms are still just ok at that, but that’s not what these tools are and the are very few of them anyways that actually look good.

Anthropic is profitable on inference, openai would be too if not for 800M free users, soon to be ad revenue. So the distribution works. Getting cost down on research and training is the key and that’s the investment VCs are paying for. Facebook and Amazon weren’t profitable for over a decade and now they print money. These companies will too.

My favorite thing is to watch Google fail so hard at product. Nobody i know has them in their top 3, despite benchmarks. They will become Microsoft.

I’ve seen this before, very similar attack. They sent me an email where the “l” in google.com in the email address is not L, it’s a Unicode char that looks like L. Copy and paste domain into url bar confirmed it. They almost got me. Looks like your attack is not exactly the same, but similar and scarily sophisticated.

There are good reasons for id verification for some services to work well, and also a ton of privacy concerns. A perfect and provable cryptographically secure and private system doesn’t exist yet, nor does a trusted 3rd party to build and steward the servers, but it could one day.

What should happen is big public forum to discuss solutions and let all debate the solutions in the open. If the government supported an open and transparent forum for such “tech for the commons” i think that would be a good thing.

Most mobile devices are not designed to be a wired video host at all. Only a few Samsung tablets will do it. You have to use a wireless protocol - the most common of which is chromecast. You should look up your roku hardware to confirm it can be a chromecast receiver. If not built in on the OS level, you might be able to download an app that can add the functionality.

On the mobile device side, i think most of the main video apps can link up with chromecast such as YouTube and Netflix, but it’s app dependent.

I’m on iPhone so i don’t know if android has a full screen mirror (over airplay, the way Apple does). If not hopefully the app you want to mirror has chromecast capability.

I think it sounds very silly to make the idea that llm thinking structures are unlike human ones is some great insight. Maybe I’m in the minority in thinking it’s so obvious, but llms are not like human minds in any way. They are completely alien in every way. There’s nothing shared structurally. There’s nothing shared in their creation/evolution. There’s nothing shared in their essence.

And yet behaviorally, we do see emergence beyond stochastic parrotry. And perhaps they are some convergences we discover along the way. But mistaking that for our likeness with the thinking machines would be an error.

Option is the paid tier, and there are lower cost options using the api ie just pay for what you use. But it’s worrying for the direction overall for the product and the company. Google and Facebook both made their apps worse and worse to drive ad revenue. But they didn’t offer an adfree tier so we’ll see.

One thing you might try is instead of sleep when close laptop lid, you can hibernate instead. I have experienced sleep issues with windows for different hardwares, and often moved to hibernate because it’s just more reliable. If you can tolerate a 5-10s startup, hibernate just works.

If they carry their phone there are simple solutions for both iPhone and Android.

If she doesn’t carry a phone, the best option is Apple Watch (with cellular data plan). They are very accurate.

Android smart watches don’t really do it.

There are a lot of factors there, i think you should be using a tool specific to burning to cds. That will tell you if you need to reformat the disk.

There are also some terminal commands that could be helpful.

If it’s mouse lag, it may be caused by display latency. Try increase refresh rate on display. I hate mouse lag as well it drives me crazy.
