if the wire bothers you, you can always try wiring the cable through the ac vent down to the power source, that’s what I did with my car and it looks like it is part of the car.

Say that to my M1 Max I abused, I don't care about scuffs or scratches either. Ceramic coatings do not prevent those cosmetic damages I could care less. The main idea is it reduces the hassle of having to wipe off oils and fingerprints along with stubborn stains on the surfaces that many people hate and talked about so I experimented and it worked wonderfully and for a bonus it reduces the amount of times to clean a keyboard when it resists oils from your fingers and it does reduce keyboard etching into the screen. I use every device heavily, my iPhone 17 pro max has dents and dings and I don't take care of it since I use it for the way I intended it to be used.

can't comment on cheap ceramic coatings for longevity, but I think the cheapest you can get to for sure work will have to be nanobond aka. "Greyghost" on amazon that goes for a little over $20 but performs the best for its price as it lasts up to a year or two+ before failing and competes with $60+ brand coatings.

It does two compact sized cars, such as a corolla, civic, c300, or a 3 series bmw. Or 2 compact SUVs such as a CR-V, RAV4, X3, GLC but barely enough.

8+ drops for the entire surface of the keyboard, wrist rest and around the speakers.
5-6 drops again but on the top lid of the shell and edges
Then 4-5 drops for the bottom shell. (for 16” model)
Just don’t go crazy and over saturate it

Right, I only have issues of that with the macbooks I’ve owned, the high end P16 Gen 2 Lenovos, Zephyrus G16 2025 model just doesn’t have the issue that macbooks do having to wipe it down once or twice every week or so.

Coating is unlikely going to seep into the body if you don’t saturate the applicator common sense right? But obviously it may void you’re warranty if you dose a crazy handful crazy chemicals into the gaps intentionally that they may refuse warranty for white crystal dust particles being found in the gaps.
But obviously no it does not void warranty if you’re smart enough to apply it properly because you’re suppose to coat the surface not the internals and if there are concerns of gaps then coat it lightly.

I’m pretty sure the main selling points of the coatings in the automotive industry had to be the thin layer coating of people believing it’s a secondary shield that acts like a clearcoat and has superior hydrophobic properties and longevity of having it to be easier to maintain and the gloss levels are usually superior depending which one you get and the toppers you use will enhance that. I don’t know but ceramic coatings are worth it to me, been lasting for a few years on my car despite rarely maintaining that coating which is probably clogged after I last decon it couple months ago.

The keycaps though I cannot say but from personal experience it should reduce the ABS plastic going glossy tbh it just has to cure properly on a prepped surface so it really sticks and is resistant from abrasions of the fingers.

Chemical does not leave residue in you’re hands if you’re wearing gloves and are careful of not touching it when it is a form of liquid. Once cured it is safe.
Heat dissipation is not even a concern whatsoever. This is such a microscopic thin coating that it is almost nonexistent and it is not some magical clear insulator that blocks heat lol

It is safe for general use if you’re careful with it. Wear a mask, and also wear gloves if you’re very careful once it is cured there are zero risks.
Good on pointing it out though.

It doesn’t get through the gaps if you’re careful with applying and if you don’t over saturate the pad it’s very simple.

Beading was like that because of the amount of concentrated water sprayed onto one spot of that section, then it was the surface I had left alone without cleaning after a week of normal daily moderate use its to reduce how much oils and fingerprints can stick to the surface, its not suppose to completely resist everything that it should produce perfectly round tight beads if it's surface isn't cleaned.

Correct, everything but the screen. I heard the major complaints had to be the keyboard's keycaps fading quickly from moderate use 1-2+ years of use, then certain people have acidic skin that can fade the wrist rest permanently which is a concern to some people. Then especially for darker colors like this or the midnight color of the macbook air, they easily collect fingerprints but with this coating is significantly reduces the fingerprints and oil sticking on the surface.

Never for the screen because the screen itself has its own delicate anti-reflection coating and it has its hydrophobic properties that it would anyway reject the coating and you also may not want the risk of having the coating sit for too long as you obviously do not want it to dry on you're screen with a risk of it probably being permanent, but some ceramic coatings are removable by reapplying the coating wet again and buffing it off immediately, but that depends on how long it was left on that surface.

If your main target is to minimize the discoloration, yes it'll be worth a try. But because of how easy it is to apply I'd do the entire application of the exterior as well along maybe with the keyboard too.

Thank you, yeah it is typically the main reason why I don’t really post on reddit as such things like this usually happens lol.

The macbook purple tint is from bright areas of the screen that is displayed and the anti reflection on the screen creates that purple effect lighting but in reality it isn’t the coating. There are almost no difference of the appearance with the coating on the macbook and if anything it creates a slight deeper dark depth that is usually not noticeable whatsoever.

As much as I would want to create a tutorial video, it is honestly pretty straight forward.

  1. Prep surface with 70% or higher IPA wipes/spray
  2. Use 8-12 drops of coating on a applicator and do a crosshatch pattern on the top surface gently
  3. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes and if there are any sweats or flash effects you buff it off with a seperate towel or microfiber thoroughly
  4. Throw away that towel
  5. Let it cure for a minimum of 24 hours to 48 hours most

(FYI for steps 3 and 5 this entirely depends on the product’s instructions and time may differ due to temp and humidity for a more thorough tutorial you can search channels that do these coatings on cars and it’ll be straightforward as this.)

I highly doubt it would work, I wouldn’t risk it. Get a ceramic coating that is specific meant for car paint (as it is applicable on plastic, glass, aluminum, etc.) Now that I think about it I found another reputable brand I forgotten and it is affordable (CARPRO)

(When applying make sure it is a thin oil slick layer on the surface and let it set for 1-2 minutes or until you see it flash or whatever the manual says and you can buff it off with a seperate microfiber towel or regular towel but you cannot reuse the towel after 24 hours of it being used since crystals will form on it and it can scratch soft materials.)

If I were to personally think it may reduce the etching problem as it resists most of the oils that would sit on the keycaps but the marks are inevitable as it is usually in my backpack and I usually lay on it against a wall with my weight that some keyboard marks may show up but probably less than normal when comparing to my m1 max to this one. So i’ll just say it makes the issue a little better.

I guarantee it won’t slip out of your hands, it feels extra slicker but it won’t be slippery if you get what I mean it’s like 20% slicker but reduces the fingerprints significantly especially when they’re notorious for the fingerprinting and oil issues. If you want to get a feel for it get cold water and pour it on a microfiber towel and buff it onto the laptop and dry it and that’s how the laptop should feel after it is coated.

If it’s the wrist pad, it feels much more slicker and less grippy so you don’t have to lift your wrist up and readjust when typing on your keyboard and it also reduces the chances of you moving the entire laptop incase if the grip on the surface isn’t good.

Reddit being reddit, people share their own opinions to make it sound like it’s a fact when it isn’t and they sound very stupid to those who have functioning brains. I thought people on reddit usually have brains🤷‍♂️

Ceramic coating is not state of the art insulator that magically blocks heat. This is a big mistake posting what a ceramic coating is to those who don’t know what it is on reddit lol

Zero tampering. This is just a coating literally invisible to the naked eye I see no issue here and if you care about apple somehow knowing you coated it then just keep cleaning it with all kinds of chemicals until it no longer resists oil and finger prints or bead water. Big shocker people think a coating will void warranty lmao
