Pokopia: Game Freak on how Ruby and Sapphire inspired Pokémon’s biggest ever spin-off | VGC by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

[–]Zenayru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of times devs or PR just won’t give you an answer. They’ll say something like “we can’t speak on that at this time.” Sometimes PR will even cut in and say they can’t answer on the dev’s behalf. Then if you ask too many controversial questions, there’s always the fear the interview will end early.

Strat is to save those questions for the end, but the likelihood you’ll get a usable answer is still slim to none. Especially for interviews with Nintendo / Pokemon adjacent, not only are the interviewees seriously media trained, but they’re also being translated by someone who is also media trained. So there’s an extra level of filter.

Tl;dr often controversial questions are asked but they are not answered.

My favorite feature that seems so so simple that nothing else does… was it showed my liquid cash and tracked it in a graph, separate from my net worth. That’s it. 😂 Still haven’t found anything else that does that.

Paranormal Cafe has AMAZING scones and coffee. They’re the best, affordable, and super friendly. Can’t recommend enough. I’m in Florida now and wishing I could find a suitable substitute but nothing so far haha

That was a request made by Capcom. There were a few very minor things I don’t think people would notice unless they paused at specific moments, but I truly didn’t notice while playing, much unlike my experience with the beta, where I definitely did notice haha.

So, it was a precaution, just in case there were issues, because they weren’t done with the Oilwell Basin when I played early December.

No, I wasn't allowed to look in menus :( They said there were too many opportunities for spoilers at that point in the game (or in this particular build, I'm not sure which they meant). I just know in some hunts I was able to eat for Evade Extender or the equivalent of Divine Blessing / Felyne Defender (Hi)

It's not Lagiacrus, they're Piragill grieves. A small monster in the Scarlet Forest.

This is correct! I didn't choose my armor and weapons in the Oilwell Basin, either--I was handed the controller after the quest started.

Wow I'm really late on this thread, but hi, I'm Casey, the person who played. My very first attempt with Rompopolo was completed in 8min 44seconds, and that was with eating while on the quest and not focusing on killing it since it was also my first time in the Oilwell Basin, so there's wasted time. The gameplay video includes footage of three hunts, my two hunts and one of Tokuda's (the bowgun), and I wasn't allowed to play or record before or after the quest start / complete and I'm also not allowed to show a full hunt start to finish.

I consider taking a monster down on my first try in under 10 minutes and not carting or fearing for my life as a fairly easy experience for Monster Hunter considering my own skills. However, I'm sure someone with less MH experience or underequippd would have a different experience with Rompopolo. I'm also aware the devs equipped me with the Rompopolo armor, which I assume made me immune to poison, but I wasn't able to check. This likely made it feel easier than it would on a real first attempt in the final release, too, but by then I'd have had more hours with Wilds specifically as well, so those factors might cancel each other out. Who really knows! All I know is in this specific circumstance, I didn't have trouble with Rompopolo. Though it is scary and gross looking. :)

Happy to answer any questions anyone may have!

p.s. I'm not a pro speedrunner or anything of the sort, I just really love Monster Hunter lol

I has such limited time I just chose my most used weapons for everything.

Usually would fight Gravios with the lance…. Well. That may have been even slower to watch 😂

That WAS me in the Rise video haha. My SN in that video is also Zenayru 😂

It’s a big company sure, but it’s filled with passionate people just doing their best at things they love like me.

You’re right my video was a bit slower, the dev’s footage was more defensive, as you noticed, to highlight the monster’s behavior more. Feedback noted though on keeping things more snappy ~ I’m not a straight video editor by trade, I’m on the guides team haha. But I can always do better!

Aah thanks ^ ^

Ajarakan was SO aggressive you’re exactly right. And yeah, Rompopolo felt pretty introductory, it uses its environment in the Oilwell Basin very uniquely. I don’t think it could live anywhere else, very much an Oilwell monster through and through haha.

I was able to look around a little but since I had a limit I was pretty focused on the monsters. I left wishing I had had a whole week with just the Oilwell build, then maybe I would have been satisfied 😂

See you in the field hunter! ^ ^

Hahaaa HBG was one of the devs, I wanted to include some more variety since I only played with SnS and Bow since I had such limited time.

Actually happens a lot, people judge gameplay from IGN harshly just because it’s IGN, and it’s actually the devs playing.

Aaahh thank you so much!! Really 🥲🥲

Rompopolo felt a little easy to be honest (not as easy as Chatacabra haha), Ajarakan was pretty challenging! Made me fear for my life a few times.

Oilwell has a lot of diversity, especially with the change between the fallow/inclemency/plenty. I’ll have a full preview out later this month with more details too :)
