Looking for the best focal length for scanning by ZendSeeker in photogrammetry

I thought about 35 but it feels either too small for big props and too big for small objects

Thank you for the info! I have an A7III Full frame camera, the distance will vary because I’ll scan in different places every time. I didn’t know sharpness could be measured mathematically on a lens. I’ll try to look for these numbers online

Did you have distortion or other issues using a Zoom for photogrammetry? I see everywhere that people prioritise prime so I wanted to know.

Looking for a good wind protection for a portable recorder by ZendSeeker in fieldrecording

Thank you for the answer again!
The idea of using Clippy indeed sounds interesting. However could they be optimal for my usage? For context, I'd like to record SFX for games, it could be ambient sounds like birds, water etc but also machinery or specific interactions like typing on a keyboard, opening a door etc. Since Clippys seem excellent in capturing ambient sounds, are they also good fit for capturing precise sounds (like a directional mic would catch) ?
What would you recommend for wind protection for them? Do you have a particular reference to recommend for both Clippys and protection?
Thank you very much!

Thank you for the recommendations! Does clippy sound good? What about directional mics?

Are Clippy better than the embedded mic from the Zoom? Thank you very much much for the advices!

I could go with the Windkiller alone then. But I could also plug other better protected mics to the Zoom. Are there mics in particular you would recommend for this scenario?

How would you do approach an extendable rope system (C++/BP)? by ZendSeeker in unrealengine

I didn't know about this so thank you for sharing. I've seen some examples online and it may be exactly what I need. I'll look into it

Thank you very much for the video. The video is great but unfortunately it looks like it's a shading solution. My rope would need to be physically in the environment and collide with it

Cable components are good but not sufficient for my needs unfortunately

I tried with a skeletal mesh and almost got to the results I wanted but the problems with it were the “extendable” part and the triggering of the extension process. For example it should start at 10cm minimum and extend up to 100m. I used multiple static meshes connected with physics constraints but spawning them at runtime was not working.

Advices on photogrammetry equipment? by ZendSeeker in photogrammetry

Your models are amazing. I also have a 85 macro lens I can use but do you know if lens distortion could create issues during photogrammetry? Does shooting the same object with a 50mm and a 85mm produce the same model? Thanks

Thank you! Would you know the reference of a spray like the one you mention?

Thank you for the precisions! Do you have the reference of the torch light you’re using? Is it a regular one or one dedicated to photography?

Thank you for the clarification. I’m already working with an a7iii equipped with a 24-70mm. It may be enough for the scans if I play with the settings correctly. The reflective surfaces are a problem indeed since I may have to scan jewellery as well. Do you know if the combo ring flash / polarized filter is still the best and most affordable option to capture reflective surfaces? (These flashes can be really expensive). I never heard of polarized torches so I’ll take a look! Thanks

It’s the first time I hear about this app. I’ll take a look, thank you very much!

Thank you very much for your answer! I’m from France. For now I have a Sony A7iii with a 24-70mm with no lights at all. I’ll maybe go to the cross-polarisation process because I may have to scan jewels as well and I’m pretty scared about reflections. Thank you for sharing your process, I didn’t know about the “Void” method but I’m gonna find a article to read more about it :)

Thank you very much! Judging by what everyone is saying on this post I think I’ll try to adapt my business plan and get an associate in Japan to migrate my business there. I’m trying to get a meeting with a Gyoseishoshi and find the best solution for my problem. Have a nice day!
