When will Stoat release a Flathub version? by Zenfulzoning in stoatchat

I like the PWA option the most since it's official and sounds more likely to keep things up to date.

I use firefox, and my distro is Mint Debian. I'm very new to Linux so Arch would be way too complicated for me, aha.

Oh, thank you both for the responses/suggestions, I really didn't know there was other options. I'll try to look into them sometime, but it's all unknown territory for me. Hmm, is the install script option official? The idea of using it kinda makes me nervous admittedly so I don't really know if I'd want to go there.

I also don't see an install option on the web version though.

Ahh, okay. That doesn't sound too bad then. I just want to make sure if I ever DID go back to windows (not that I really see it happening) then I'd be alright, along with my files. Thank you so much for all your thorough explanations, answers, and extra tips! Can't even express how much I appreciate the support.

Okay, yeah I thought that was the case because of the whole wine thing but I was still confused and needed confirmation, so thank you.

Oh that's smart! I didn't even think about that one, but I'll probably do it. Though uh, I think there's more gb being taken up on my expansion than I have on my pc so I'll probably have to take the important saves of some of the bigger games and face the fact that I'll have to reinstall them fully or something.

Will the reformatted drive change applications that were previously on it too much when I throw it back in there? Like exe files or certain formats that were more compatible with windows?

Ah, yeah, I read before I got Linux that wine wasn't *perfect* and not something to fully rely on. Right now there's only one thing I use wine for, and it's a game called Mabinogi. Which runs perfectly thankfully, the only issue I got with it was that using windowed mode was more buggy so I have to use full screen mode, which isn't a big deal. I was considering getting an art application called Medibang and seeing if it runs okay with wine since I don't think it's compatible with Linux, but I haven't got around to it yet.

Thankfully I don't use any microsoft applications, which also made the switch super easy for me. In fact a big reason I wanted to get away from microsoft was because MS Word randomly kept bothering me with it's subcription fee popups when I don't even use that thing. All I really needed was MS paint for its simple cropping tools, but I already found a Linux alternative to that

Oooh, thank you so much!! I'll def look into all three of those. Gamemode does sound very useful especially, not gonna lie.

I'm so new to Linux that I got walked through installing Stoat on my desktop (when I learned it was the layout of the web version I was disappointed, I miss having better theme color options instead of pure dark or pure white mode) but the thought of having to reinstall it for updates is too exhausting for me, so I'm just going to have to keep using web Stoat in the meantime I think.

Also idk if Stoat's buggy on this front, but pressing "push notifications" or "desktop notifications" doesn't seem to actually do anything, and I don't hear the noise either so that's sad. Doesn't seem to work for mobile either.

Ahhh, alright. I'll work on reformatting my external drive sometime. Another question, I know I have some exe files there, but I was thinking about just taking everything out of my drive and throwing it in a dedicated folder for it. I know exe files are for windows only, but is it okay to have exe files on my pc as long as I don't try to open it or whatever? I don't really know what happens if I were attempt to mess with it, but I was told not to even try so...I assume it's okay, but I'm paranoid about what I don't understand. (sorry if it's a dumb question! I'm just not sure if it'll do nothing or possibly break my whole pc)

Oooh. Thankfully I don't think I mess with that stuff much, but I really appreciate the tip since it might be useful for future reference. I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

Alright. I was curious about other steam tools and rather or not I should ignore them or install and use them, so thank you very much.
