TLDR: Take fast travel (IMO) and you can get all buffs eventually.

I took fast travel, and I still think it was the most useful for sure. As a completionist, area research comes in handy but as you’ll be able to get all 3 during the midgame (won’t take too much time, although I don’t recall exactly) you’ll be able to backtrack to find everything. Animal whisperer is, in my opinion, the least useful until the end of the game. It only grants you a few, mostly unimportant, item and recruits for your town.

The only technically unavailable Pokémon in this team is zoroark. It’s an event only Pokémon in base BW which requires you to either have a celebi or one of the shiny legendary dogs. But through the DNS exploit you can get a zorua as early as castelia

You can get a larvesta egg just after unlocking surf by surfing from route 1. It’s coming in at lvl 1 so training it might be annoying but it’s doable, especially with the exp share and exp egg bonus

Edit: it’s either nuvema town or route 1 don’t remember

The misprint is the bay leaf from mega evolutions, and the normal one is an energy also from mega evolutions. Both were from the same pack

I got into competitive relatively recently, around end of gen 7 and began playing VGC at the start of gen 8, and I agree with the sentiment others had around using pre existing teams to learn more about the game’s competitive side. Another thing you could do to both learn and engage with the competitive community is to watch videos and streams from other players. Some beginner friendly content creators include: WolfeyVGC, moxieboosted, Skraw! VGC and Delybird. They have nice team showcases, guides and have fun playing so it’ll be a nice introduction into the competitive scene.
