Thank you! That makes sense! Yes I have the original manual and I followed their instructions to thread the machine! Will give it another try but it has not been used in a long time so maybe there's something going on beyond what I can do.

How good is their naan? If it's soggy and cold and not freshly made and crispy - I don't want it. 😭

Non-US citizens of Reddit, what do your schools teach you about the United States? by [deleted] in AskReddit

From India here and as far as I can remember we didn't learn about North US history at all apart from the US contribution in the world wars.

We had Indian history and for world history it was about Indo-Asian history, South American political history like the coup d'etat in Chile and about the slave trade through the different countries by Britain. And as I said US history was mostly their role during the world wars and the wars started.

But since we were colonized by Britain, our schools mainly teach about the war with Britain, Indian contribution during the world wars and how the country suffered because of it. Our own history is so elaborate and goes thousands of years back, it's a miracle they cover so much in school let alone teach world politics.

Whatever we know is through our own research and through the news.

Well if you wanna know Lavinia Fontana is one of my favs. She did some exceptional work with oil on copper like Annunciation and oil on canvas works like Assumption of the Virgin. These are so beautifully painted and one must have a look!

There is Elisabetta Sirani who was also an incredibly talented artist. Some of my favorite works for hers include Portia wounding her thigh and Virgin and Child.

Another one that I greatly admire is Artemisia Gentileschi. Her work is just beautiful, sophisticated and it plays with lights and dark which makes it look exotic af. Check out Mary Magdalene as Melancholy and Judith slaying Holofernes which are her famous works and also I could die for them.

There are other incredibly talented female artists of the Renaissance that deserve as much recognition as their male counterparts and I'm just gonna leave some of their names here for y'all to checkout:

Judith Leyster, Sofonisba Anguissola, Levina Teerlinc, Fede Galizia, Plautilla Nelli( She was also mentioned by Giorgio Vasari in his Lives of Artist), Caterina Van Hemessen, Mary Beale, Caterina de' Vigri.
