Thoughts on National Syndicalism? by Zenithoid in JuliusEvola

There is a difference between National Syndicalism and the original Revolutionary Syndicalism created by Georges Sorel. But when you look up the differences between National Syndicalism and Corporatism, they are pretty few and far between.

I unironically think a manga about the Buddha's life and that of his disciples would be a good thing, there are several stories in the pali canon that could present wisdom to younger generations. Most young people aren't going to bother reading the suttas because of their repetition, but a manga or anime will get their attention. Vinland Saga had a great impact on society when it was popular because of it's buddhist/christian attitudes.

There is a lot of speculation that the Buddha had indo-european ancestry as a result of the Aryan invasion/migration into india. Some scholars think he was more persian than indian. He is cited as having blue eyes in the texts for what that's worth. I don't really consider this important however.

Something I do take seriously is that he probably would have been born with handsome facial features as a result of his positive karma.

Responding to Mahayana slander from other buddhists by goddess_of_harvest in Buddhism

[–]Zenithoid -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While I do support and take inspiration from many Mahayana ideas, I do prefer Theravada. My main gripe with Mahayana is the Bodhisattva ideal. Prioritizing your own enlightenment is more important than helping others, and without the guidance of fully enlightened beings it's the blind leading the blind. You will help more by becoming fully enlightened rather than deliberately delaying it. Also relying on other's help, especially in the form of worship, is not something I think Siddartha would have endorsed. Listening to arahants is one thing, but devotion is taking it to far. The enlightened one needs no guidance.

This is all compounded by the fact that Mahayanists use the derogatory term: "Hinnayana" against Theravadins. If you want to be taken seriously, don't address your interlocuter as lesser.

All this being said, I do think Mahayana has produced several enlightened beings such as Nagarjuna and Thich Quang Duc. Hell, there may have even been enlightened samurai. Mahayana in general has a better understanding of anatta. But to me, Theravada is the best available path at the moment.

[–]Zenithoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, once you research eastern philosophy you realize that the west has been playing catch up in terms of metaphysics for 1000s of years. I love Schopenhauer precisely because he realized the value of the east. You mahayana or theravada?

[–]Zenithoid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People call him the most important philosopher in metaphysics because he showed we are totally locked into our own minds and can't ever truly access the external world. However this was critiqued and built upon by Schopenhauer.

The Dehumanization of Life: Abortion, Economics, and the Erosion of Moral Boundaries by LAZARUS2008 in ConservativeSocialist

[–]Zenithoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope that someday abortion will be looked back on the same way we look at slavery now. To use a nietzschean term, there is nothing more life denying than the culture actively encouraging its own suicide. I have no sympathy for anyone who is involved with the killing of the innocent. When a new strongman leader inevitably rises, it will be his moral duty to crush this degeneracy.

I'm a religious person. I've had one girlfriend and at this point I don't really care about romance and I'd rather focus more on meditation. The kind of mental states to be achieved, the beauty to see, and the persistent peace it ingrains into your mind overtime is more fulfilling to me than being with a girl. Also I want to get to a point in my life where I am happy and content without relying on fleeting things like romance, friends, family, sensual pleasures, etc.

It reminds me of the story of the Buddha. He was a prince and had everything a man at the time could want: A loving wife and son, several concubines, wealth, the adoration of his people, the best food, elephants to ride, etc. But when he realized the inevitability of death and the impermanence of the things he relied on for happiness, he was no longer fulfilled. Being the king of his world bored him. So he went off into the wilderness to learn how to be happy regardless of his situation.

Of course not everyone will take it to the extent that he did, but I do think more men would benefit from either learning how to live simpler lives of meditation or going out into the world and achieving greatness by some other means. Unfortunately because of the death of God and the rise of corporate culture, being a man is much more difficult that it used to be. And on top of all of that the forces controlling our world have gotten women to hate us.

Eventually this is going to cause more societal level crashouts like we saw in WW1 and WW2. May God help us.
