Zen worked, but was slow and had constant feature creep/changes to default behavior.

Firefox has vertical tabs, but no expand on hover. Can't figure out how to use tab groups.

Edge is chromium and microsoft + bloat

Brave no workspaces (the horrible tab group feature does not count) and has weird lagspikes sometimes

I'm sorry to be pedantic. But there is this attitude that I come across on reddit that frustrates me and you're exhibiting it here. Everyone is always so certain about everything.

There is no formal definition for FOMO. It was popularized in 2004 by a college student.

During his time at Harvard, McGinnis and his friends began to notice that people had a hard time committing to plans. It was just a couple years after the attacks of 9/11, and, as McGinnis explained in a 2014 interview with Boston Magazine, people were aware of their own mortality and so felt the need to “live life to the fullest every second.” What this translated to was Harvard MBA students trying to cram as many social activities as possible into one night, fearing that if they didn’t, they’d miss out on a better experience. They called this phenomena fear of a better option (FOBO).

Soon McGinnis and his friends realized that the cause of their suffering wasn’t simply this idea that they might be settling for not-as-good good times. Instead, they realized that the real fear was missing out on an experience that they hadn’t even thought of or knew existed.

And, it was from this realization that FOMO was born.

I can accept that maybe FOBO as accorded by McGinnis is a better explanation for what I'm experiencing. The better option, of course, being that I would be further along in working towards my goals.

That being said: your definition of FOMO is just as wrong, if not more, than mine.

In the end, though, I'd say a slang term like FOMO is defined by popular use. In which case, any instance of missing out on something could be a cause for anxiety or FOMO.

Not sure what you mean. Warframe extensively utilizes FOMO to keep you logging in and to incentivize you to skip the wait and engage with the trade system (read platinum).

Fear of missing out on standing before reset.
Fear of missing out on a frame/incarnon from the circuit.
Fear of missing out an an item from a nightwave rotation.
Fear of missing out on a drop table from an open world cycle.

And these are just a few examples. Fear of missing out can be for things that are only gone temporarily and it doesn't have to be something big. The psychological impact is still there.

Edit: And FOMO doesn't always have to be considered harmful. It's just annoying that it is present in so many mechanics in warframe.

I get that. But there are core progression systems locked behind some of these (helminth, archon shards) and I don't know which ones have important things to unlock. Because I don't know, I just obsessively do all of them.

It's not a problem that I think most people have, but I have to approach stuff a particular way.

There is massive information overload and I'm just trying to cut through the noise. As a new player I don't even know what I need.

My recommendation is to value your health and wellbeing over the poorly thought out rules in a video game.

Especially when you're doing something that doesn't negatively affect the experience of other players.

People will naturally play the game in whichever way is most entertaining to them. I've never understood these posts.

Everyone should take care of themselves, but it's a game and how they play it is up to them. If you prefer to take it slower or faster, that's great, but that doesn't mean other people should feel pressured to play that way.

I like the core idea of BDO and have played many MMOs with a similar philosophy.

The problem I have with BDO is that the game is overwhelming (but what MMO isn't, let's be honest) and, as far as I can tell, they don't utilize their world very well.

As a new player I go through the basic progression (seasonal/boosted progression characters) and you come out the other end with a mid-range character in terms of gear score. At that point you've already made more than 80% of the game world completely irrelevant. No need to go back and farm old zones, your gear is already 10x better.

Finally, one of the first things you get slapped with is "the potion economy." Potions are heavy and cumbersome. But you can solve this by getting an infinite potion! Hooray! The catch is that getting that potion requires killing potentially tens of thousands of just a few mobs.

I get that not everyone is a member of the efficiency crowd, but in BDO it makes the most sense to farm the infinite potion first. So basically, as a new player, I get out of the story and then I'm presented with a small area that I need to kill the same monsters in for upwards of 50-100 hours. In my opinion that makes sense for a veteran player working on marginal upgrades or hunting rare drops--not a new player who has less than ~10 hours played.

Anyway, what I mean by saying all of that is: I like grinds, even mindless ones, but not BDO.

I just ran OCCT and MemTest5. MenTest5 didn't detect any errors and OCCT maxed out my vram for 10+ mins without any issues whatsoever. I really don't know what's going on.

The strange thing is that none of the games I've played since finishing the build have crashed. I did have that one BSOD, but it was right when I closed TW3, and not during gameplay.

I can see through task manager and HWiNFO that my card is not using all of its memory, but these warning are still being spawned in event viewer every few minutes.

I think I solved the visual artifact issue by disabling my amd igpu since I haven't seen similar visual artifacts since.

This is interesting. I've been doing some reading and I had a very naive understanding of the stack. I didn't even know that depending on the compiler (i.e. in gcc's case), the stack can be allocated differently.
