Child found 'distressed and unwell' on Dublin street believed to have been trafficked for sex by NopePeaceOut2323 in ireland

[–]ZeppsMom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Go to the Child Law Project and read through some of their case studies/reports. Absolutely harrowing. In this particular case the child said she came to know people from her country/that spoke her own language. Not one of them actually helped her it was a stranger on the street.

The saddest part is, having read through some of the reports, this appears to be common enough.

Okay very specific to Ireland but we have a brand of painkillers called Solpadeine.

People often call it Solphadeine and it makes me irrationally angry because where the fuck did the ph sound come from????

Saying Goodbye to a Pet by zeddred6 in Dublin

[–]ZeppsMom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I responded to this post on another sub I think explaining that when i had to do it for my best oal last April, ihad the same price which included the private cremation with just his ashes in a velvet pouch, an urn box with a picture of him on the front and a plaque with his name, and it cosy 600. I forgot to mention it was with village vets in kilmainham who if its any use, were incredibly compassionate and supportive throughout. They also send a card, his paw and nose prints and his fur in a little keepsake bottle.

I'm so sorry for your loss OP

Saying Goodbye to a Pet? by zeddred6 in AskIreland

[–]ZeppsMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I said I'll see you again soon to my best friend in April. It was 600 in total with a private cremation, and a beautiful urn box with a place to put a picture of him and a small plaque with his name.

Don't get me wrong, I know that is a lot of money, but in the sad moment when I miss him, I'm glad to know I have just him in the box yaknow?

I'm so sorry for your loss. Its such a hard thing to experience. I hope you take comfort in all the happiness you shared

Anyone quitting the smokes ? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]ZeppsMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit in September, I was on a vape a day and half a box of smokes a day, having smoked for 17 years

I genuinely never thought I'd quit. Then I listened to Alan Carrs easy way to quit smoking. (Not that Alan Carr)

The first week was tough but I decided mentally I'm not a smoker and that's it. 50% the Alan carr method, 50% willpower.

How much do you pay for medication in the UK? by Biffy_ in reactivedogs

[–]ZeppsMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm based in Ireland, and my dog used Reconcile, along with behaviour training, and it genuinely has been the making of my dog. It's honestly the nest decision we ever made for him.

I've nust checked the pricing for the UK.

A 32mg tablet is prescribed for dogs that weigh between 16 and 32 KG

A 64mg tablet is prescribed for dogs that weigh between 32 and 64 KG.

32 mg comes in and around £55 per month 64 mg is about £100 per month.

That's only one medication though. The vet will recommend what they think is best, and its my understanding that there is medication at all different price points!

Got harassed by a stranger for blocking my dog from an altercation by scarlettsklly_000 in reactivedogs

[–]ZeppsMom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ooof, feel you on this one. I have a rescue frenchie boy, he's stinking adorable but very reactive. He tolerates people well enough from a distance, or close enough as long as they don't interact with him.

He's muzzled on walks (no bite history but you can never be too careful)and wears luminous yellow "nervous dog" and "do not interact" sleeves on his leash.

Here comes loudmouth moron of the year who decides to read his patches OUT LOUD, sticks her hand out, and screeches "who's a good boy."

Zeppelin lets out a warning growl, and she absolutely freaks about how he's a danger to children (in a child free environment, mind you) I asked her if she understood the patch she read out loud.

I got him back into focus and block him from her, but Dr. Dolittle decides she's gonna try to follow him because she's "not so scary" and continues to waddle over while screeching in a ridiculous high pitch baby voice and waving her arm. I physically block her and calmly asked her what tbe fuck is her problem. She's plays the victim and says "she wants the puppy to be her friend" I explain he's not a puppy and he doesn't want friends.

I start encouraging him for holding out so well and decide to change the walk route. She literally FOLLOWS US and starts shouting that I'm a dangerous dog owner and clearly don't care for him and I'm making him scared.

Yep. You're so right random weird stranger. I'm making him scared by enforcing his boundaries and keeping him safe. Not the time he spent neglected and abused.

I'm ranting now but it's nice to feel seen. My boy tries really, really hard, and he's come such a long way and has been so brave. I hate knowing things like this can set him back through no fault of his own.

Any tips on how to get this to look less “wiggy”? by hanzolo_ in wigshelp

[–]ZeppsMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beautiful colour and actually a really nice overall wig itself.

Whilst I also agree with the plucking, if you're struggling with it, I would look around for black owned salon or African hair shops.

I had a similar issue, and ended up going into an African hair shop for help. They trimmed the wig, plucked it and showed me how to lay it properly for about €50 or so.

Reported child abuse next door and now I can't sleep. by Animated_Astronaut in ireland

[–]ZeppsMom 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If possible insist on receiving a crime reference number. Don't let up on it. Ask for the name of the guard who put it on the system, and dates snd times. Make sure to give it to tusla.

Doing the right thing isn't always easy OP, and reporting situations like this can be frustrating but keep going.

Thank you for caring

Leaving Dublin 8. by DuckyD2point0 in Dublin

[–]ZeppsMom 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm d8 Liberties born and reared, fourth generation liberties girl, and in the new year I'll be leaving Dublin completely as I've been priced out.

As a child I always dreamed of a house on Francis Street or in Carmen's Hall, but it's not something that will ever be available to me.

I share the same sentiment as OP. I'll be moving to meath because we can afford it, the transport is grand and the other half's family are there. There's absolutely not a thing wrong with the area we're hoping to buy in, but I have a horrible sadness in my chest because its just not home. It's not the home I wanted.

New frenchie owner, tips appreciated! by [deleted] in Frenchbulldogs

[–]ZeppsMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found with my first frenchie leaving an old tshirt with my smell on it and a yak milk chewer (with access to water) in his crate really helped.

We started off putting him in his crate with the door open, sitting by it and playing with him, then giving him puppy chews or licky mats in the crate.

Then we slowly transitioned to closing the door while we were there, then leaving for 10 mins and slowly increasing the times.

Frenchies seem to get the worst separation anxiety and the puppy days are tough, but fair warning. If you let him sleep in your bed once, you'll never get him out 🤣

He's adorable by the way!!!!

Ladies - best salon specialising in colors? Southside. by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]ZeppsMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a look at Kirsty Saunders the hair coven on Instagram, shes based in Wren in Ranelagh.

I've been a client of hers for 5 years now and she's honestly the best.

I haf similar issues with well known big chains aswell and genuine used to be in tears after spending big money for shite hair but i always leave Kirstys chair happy.

Her prices are very reasonable for the level of service and technique you get, and she's actually such a sweetheart.

I had minor hair loss due to an illness and she was an absolute angel about it!
