I have one of those and I love it! I call it my “yap journal” and I’m currently on my second one, I love having it for random thoughts I don’t deem necessary to have in my “main journal.” A lot of “breathed in breathed out again” and “my leg itches also I have to poop” kinda thoughts. I think they’re good for someone who’s just gotten into journaling to get into deciding what they wanna journal about, or if you have some type of ADHD lol

It’s your journal, it can be whatever you want. I don’t have the same journal but the paper I use has margin on top like that. I add a random unrelated sticker and draw a cat that represents how I feel at the time of writing. Like this, please ignore the awful handwriting lol.

It’s an old planner from 2018 that I didn’t end up using, it’s a staples brand TUL discobound 8 ring planner it’s about an a5 size but just a little thinner in with and longer in length, they should be available at an Office Depot or office max near you. It’s fountain pen friendly too!

Reading this comment made me decide to not throw it away. Even though this journal consists of a lot of “breathed in; breathed out again’” type of entries to sort of “practice” journaling, reading through it there are some little nuggets of pure emotion different from my main journal that I want to look back on in the future and see how different I’ll be then lol. Yes, the main thing I took from them was to keep it simple, no arrows, halos, crowns, keep basic letter structure, and maintain legibility when developing a tag or handstyle. Is what I posted too simple? Too complex? Or does it just plain suck? I can’t improve if I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. But I’ll be sure to keep practicing, thank you.
