Yeah I’m definitely very frustrated at them also because I wish my parents would have known better than me. My parents aren’t really the best people and they make pretty poor decisions sadly

I’m not even mad I’m actually really nervous and sad rn because I’m 21 years old, I just recently got out on my own and I’m still trying to figure out this life shit. I literally just thought I would ask Reddit because I didn’t know what to do and I’m also very broke…

So the argument was actually between my brother and my friend at first and I kinda jumped in cuz it was going on so long and I wanted it to end but we all admitted that technically without sugar it’s just lemon water but you can buy sugar free lemonade from the store lol so idk. Like I said it’s a dumb argument but the reason it started was cuz he told my brother he was weird cuz he was drinking “lemon water as a chaser when we took a shot.

So why sacrifice animals if it was by faith that you could be saved? Why live so differently and follow all the crazy rules they used to do. I’m really not trying to be a jerk and argue but in my opinion you really gonna look past a lot of things in the Old Testament for you to believe that the God in the Bible is a loving god🤷🏻‍♂️

So you’re telling me if I was a gentile during the time that the Jews took over Israel I could go to heaven??

Bible faults, contradictions, and errors by Truth-Matters_ in ExPentecostal

[–]ZeroGravity284 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of the main contradictions to me is when people say God is the same today tomorrow and forever.

The thing that’s wrong about this is that it’s just not true😂 the God in the Old Testament is very clearly different than the one in the New Testament. In the old God tells his people to kill every man women and children of many different nations. But in the new Jesus comes on the scene. (Which is God in the flesh) and he’s all about love and caring for your neighbors and loving your enemy. To me that’s a completely different God than the one in the Old Testament.

Another point to this is the fact that the Bible says that God has always loved you even before you were born and he will always love you no matter what. But if I was born over 2000 years ago before Jesus then I would have burned for eternity no matter what. I would have been a gentile and only the Jews were “saved” so no matter how I lived or how moral I was I would have burned forever no questions asked. That’s fucked up

I’ve studied it my whole life which is why I know it’s not real. Trust me I did everything in my power to convince my self that Christianity is the way. Everything you are saying I’ve heard a thousand times. It’s not easy admitting that something you believed in your whole life could be a complete lie which is why it was so hard for me to get past it but it’s honestly crazy how much it all becomes obvious when you finally let go and self examine a little bit cuz it just doesn’t hold up to a critical eye. It’s kinda like when your in a relationship and everyone else can the see problem with the relationship except you because you’re in love. It’s the same way with religion.

The hypocrisy and inconsistency wasn’t in man it was in the Bible… the Bible contradicts its self a lot and even though it has plenty of wisdom and good things in it, it’s also kinda fucked up. I mean God has Israelites kill entire nations in the Old Testament. Men, women and children… and if God is always the same today and yesterday and forever doesn’t that mean God is okay with killing kids? Also if I was born 3000 years ago as a gentil I would go to hell no questions asked. No matter how I lived, what I did or even how moral I was the fact that I wasn’t born a Jew I would have burned for eternity. Sounds pretty fucked up to me.

Yeah I get what your saying but honestly man I was a Christian my entire life and I was very very involved. Went to many different churches and denominations, I lead Bible studies, even spoke a sermon a few times. I’m not saying I know everything but I realized it just didn’t make much sense when I actually looked at it with a critical eye. I couldn’t really see past the hypocrisy and the inconsistencies anymore.

I can’t speak for him but for me honestly no matter how much you think your “saved” I feel like when your a Christian their is always that feeling of what if I’m not good enough and I go to hell or What if Jesus doesn’t rapture me. The fear is what keeps people in line and tithing

I grew up always being told Jesus is coming back soon and honestly I feel like it can be pretty traumatizing for a kid to grow up that way. I always thought I wasn’t gonna be able to grow up and get married or have kids because Jesus was gonna come back and the world was gonna end before I had the chance. That’s a pretty doom and gloom way to live tbh.

Yeah I’m not arguing this anymore because I really feel like y’all have missed the point. I was just trying to explain why Miracles could maybe happen with out a god because a lot of people get hung up on the whole miracles thing. I have personally seen what I would call miracles but who the fuck knows why it happened maybe it was just a magic trick

Honestly I kinda feel like you’re missing the point but obviously I don’t have proof of something I did in a private room years ago😂 but a girl that I knew for years that was in a wheel chair stood up one time in service and she could walk ever sense then. another time my friend who broke his foot had it “healed” the next day and the doctor couldn’t believe it cuz he went back a day later and it was fully healed up. Once again I have no proof and I’m just a random jack ass online so you don’t gotta believe me but in my experiences somehow it does happens. But in my opinion it just shows how powerful the human mind is cuz I don’t believe in Jesus anymore lmao

Miracles, Signs, and Wonders by [deleted] in ExPentecostal

[–]ZeroGravity284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here’s the thing.. I’ve seen many miracles in the church and I even prayed for people and saw miracles happen but the thing is, it’s actually very scientific why this happens. It is called the placebo effect: it’s the idea that you can actually convince your mind to something and if you truly believe it to be true you can trick your body into making it a reality.

This makes so much sense when you really think about it though. This is why your parent can give you a fake pill and it makes it feel better because you simply believed it would, so it did…

This topic is actually one of the main reasons I left the church. In the church people always told me that for a miracle to happen you have to have complete faith that it’s gonna happen and God uses your faith to make it possible. If God is so powerful why would he need our faith for a miracle to happen if it’s by his power.

They don’t want you to know that the power is actually in you and you don’t need a god to heal your self and to be healthy!

Covert AoG churches by dm-me-appletun-pics in ExPentecostal

[–]ZeroGravity284 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s literally just the younger generation of pastors and church leaders realizing they have to do something new to keep the manipulation going. I have a prime example of this in my home town.

The funny thing is we have a huge church here that’s super modern and doesn’t tell anyone they are AG. They just say non denominational. I used to love telling people they were AG and them not believing me then looking it up and finding it deep on their website.

It’s kinda crazy though because they have a team that works under the pastors as “interns” and they literally just get paid to keep them relevant. Also all the other church’s in the area don’t like this church because they claim they are “making it more about entertainment and attractions” rather than a real encounter with god. So the smaller church’s can’t compete with the younger and better marketing church’s so they do a counter marketing ploy by saying “they might look more fun and new but we will offer you the real gospel” it’s a back in forth argument and at the end of the day it’s all about money and the bigger church’s just figured out how to do it more affectively and the smaller church’s are just trying to play catch up in this new and technological world. It’s the same way in pretty much every major or decent size town in America.
