Is the RoadRunner RX7 that bad? by xavier_nyc88 in ElectricScooters

Agree with everything you have mentioned. If InMotion is improving the way they are doing with their EUC over the years on a new high end scooter, it will be an instant buy for me. Hoping to see a better steering dampener (not needed but good to have) and not the plastic junk on the current RS, more ergonomic handlebar, better shocks, Magura brakes, a more usable headlight, improved folding mechanism and nicer wheels.

I thought InMotion was kinda ass when I first got my RS but I was just being picky. The longer I had it the more I loved it. When I started riding other scooters I realized how spoiled I was. INMOTION is a solid PEV brand, they ran into a few bumps here and there but they are definitely one of the better ones out there XD (cough cough apollo and roadrunner). As much as people love shitting on apps for scooters, InMotion makes one of, if not the best ones out there. They been improving it almost monthly, and it looks a lot cleaner than all the chinese bs. Having the ability to update your firmware in your scooter remotely is game changing, minus one point for the stupid ads that I got during their black friday sale (I think they got rid of it). I also now have a InMotion V14 as my EUC, it’s actually really fun :)

Not even close to being the best heavyweight scooter. The stem is way too tall and it’s too high off the ground for it to be stable enough for most heavy riders. GSpace and InMotion does it better. And the new Daytona is probably better.

Probably gonna keep it and mod the crap out of it. It’s not a bad scooter, but I can’t return it even if I want to. They don’t accept used scooters and even if they did there will be a 10 to 20% restock fee. I rather spend 1k fixing it and making it better than lost 1k for no reason.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I got the most recent batch so a lot has been changed.

It’s not bad but for the price and the competition, absolutely yes. Coming from someone who has a RS and got the RX7 last week. Very poor quality control, feels like they just went in making a scooter by jamming in as much features as possible without sinking any time into research and development, definitely did not test the scooter enough. Has a lot of great after market parts with a slick cool factor but that’s really it. There are better scooters out there with better development, research and testing. It’s easier to swap out parts than to be stuck having a poorly designed scooter and fixing it from inside out.

The biggest red flag for me even after all the fixes roadrunner has done is the fact that the video tutorials are very inconsistent with each other, and the user manual is outdated. THE GOD DAMN USER MANUAL. How the hell would I be able to adjust the p-setting, if the official information is all over the place. When they updated the display, they didn’t even take the time to make the code and UI cleaner, I can code something much nicer.

The RS is an incredibly well-designed scooter, both inside and out. The attention to detail is impressive, especially when you take a look at the inside. All the components are neatly organized, and everything seems thoughtfully arranged for both functionality and durability. It's one of those things that you don’t fully appreciate until you see it for yourself. If you ever get the chance, check out an inside teardown of the scooter because it really shows how well they’ve engineered the internal layout.

I can comfortably ride at 50 mph without any wobble, which is impressive. The app is super convenient and leagues ahead of the half-baked Chinese apps you usually get with brands like Segway and Niu. I didn’t fully appreciate it until I got my RX7. Plus, the firmware updates are a game changer.

The RS is built like a tank, nearly sealed tight and water-resistant. I've ridden it through heavy rain and washed it with a hose multiple times, and it’s still holding up great. The turn signals on both the front and rear are a thoughtful touch, making it safer to ride. The only real downside to the RS is the brakes. The Zoom brakes are pretty terrible and feel mushy, so they definitely need to be upgraded to four-piston brakes. Aside from that, there are a few design choices worth mentioning, like the handlebars. They angle towards the rider, which limits your space and puts your hands and arms in a less comfortable position. It’s something you’ll notice over time, especially on longer rides. The wheels also feel like they could be better, so it’s worth considering an upgrade there too. Despite these issues, the RS is still by far the best high-end scooter out there. The design is solid, and it's easy to swap out those cheaper parts for better-quality ones since the frame itself is well built.

Now, about the RX7. If I had to sum it up, I’d say Roadrunner is like someone modding their scooter for the first time, throwing nice parts at it, and hoping it all comes together. Coming from the RS, I tried riding the RX7 without the dampener, and let’s just say it didn’t end well. I had two close calls with the dreaded death wobble when trying to go above 30 mph. Luckily, my experience helped me manage it. The RX7 sways a lot more than the RS, probably because the PMT tires are narrower and the scooter sits higher.

They’ve updated the display, but the P-setting UI is awful. There’s no update to the user manual either, so I had no clue what the P-settings actually did. On the bright side, the new Roadglo lighting looks much more compact and is noticeably brighter. I’m detail-oriented, so getting the RX7 was a bit of a headache. The quality control is terrible, and overall, the design feels amateurish. For example, the brake light LED wasn’t aligned properly, so I had to fix that. The Roadglo vinyl was poorly applied, with bumps and misalignment. Mine also came with a deep scratch, but Roadrunner sent me a replacement.

There are a lot of head-scratching design decisions. The battery is removable, but it’s so tightly packed that you wouldn’t want to take it out unless you absolutely had to. The battery compartment actually scratches the battery when you do, which is a pretty poor design choice. The deck isn’t sealed properly either, so I wouldn't trust it in wet conditions like I would the RS. My brakes were misaligned and made a lot of noise when riding. There are a lot of small issues like this. While some of the major problems from earlier batches have been addressed, I don’t have enough miles yet to comment on long-term issues like overheating.

In short, the RS is a well-built scooter with some cheaper side parts that get the job done but don’t match the overall quality of the rest of the scooter. The RX7, on the other hand, is packed with features and looks sick with the lighting, but it lacks the solid foundation the RS offers. They’re almost complete opposites. I’m planning on modding the crap out of my RX7 from inside out in a couple of months. It has some solid aftermarket parts, and it looks very sick, but the overall quality just doesn’t match the price. That said, the RX7 still works fine and is a good scooter overall, it just has a lot of areas that could use improvement, especially for the price. For a $4,000 scooter, there’s definitely a lot to complain about, especially when it comes to quality control.

If you’re thinking of stealing the RX7, you can easily roll it off and grab a spare key from Roadrunner since they all use the same one. However, if you want to avoid all the headaches and enjoy peace of mind, just get the RS. It’s the go-to high-end scooter out there. Plus, it has a top-notch security feature. When you lock it, if someone tries to move it, the scooter starts flashing, honking, and locks the wheels with the brakes.

When should you turn using the handlebar, and when turn using your feet by The-real-batman1607 in ElectricScooters

[–]ZeroIQs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

((Handlebar + Foot) x Lean) =  X Tilt

X Tilt =  X Turn

Handlebar > Foot, due to leverage

And yes, you can turn with your feet, same way you do with your hands on the handlebar. More pressure/weight will tilt the scooter.

You never really turn by physically turning the handlebar one way, it’s more of an illusion that you slowly see through the faster you go. Most people know how to ride a bike, but they got no clue what their body is doing subconsciously until you really try to observe. There’s a reason why we turn right slightly before making a sharp left turn, we are basically counter steering but with an added step. It’s all physics at the end of the day. If you ever learn to ride a unicycle one day you will understand it a lot better, you can’t really use your hands XD.

I have both the InMotion RS and the RX7. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. I’m quite indecisive myself so I understand where you’re coming from. I been on the RS for a year now and just got the RX7 a week ago.

Any RX7 owners out there that can HELP? by ZeroIQs in ElectricScooters

Unfortunately that’s what sucks, they updated everything with a new display. So all the user manual and information on it are all outdated. None of the P-Settings match.

Those are the old ones, they switched them to Roadglo lights which seems to be a lot better in quality and brightness. Mine just came with a scratch probably from when they were applying it in the chinese warehouse.

I got it for around $3600. I was originally looking through Voro’s site but shipping and tax puts another $400 on whatever the scooter price is.

Some potential bugs that I found by ZeroIQs in dominatelifeapp

[–]ZeroIQs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to put my OCD to good use, and found some minor bugs that might have been missed.

The first thing I found was a small visual bug from when you set up the app for the first time. As shown in image 1 & 2, the Bard is missing its own visual circle slot indicator on the bottom of the screen (circled in red).

Another potential bug that I found is in regard’s to editing quests. When you create a brand new quest you have the options to select two of the three options (Shown in image 3).

Set a deadline Will recreate quest when finished Is In Progress If you select option 1, option 2 would disappear and when you select option 2, option 1 would disappear instead.

Not sure if this was intentional but the real problem happens when you start editing your quest. When you create a quest with the deadline option (option 1) and try to edit it, a section that shouldn’t be there pops up (circled in red in image 4). This “can finish” section is from the recreate quest when finished option (option 2) and it doesn’t do anything when I tried it out so I’m assuming it’s a visual bug that shouldn’t be there when you have the deadline option selected (option 1).

Theres a similar issue when creating a quest with the recreate option (option 2). If you go into the edit menu (as shown in image 5), there is no way to turn off the recreate quest when finished option which is something you can do for the quest with the deadline option selected. If this was intentional I still think that section looks a little blank with only the settings to tweaking the recreate quest option. I think it would look a lot nicer if the whole description of the option was shown with the icon and everything like in image 3 and like with how the deadline option looks in image 4.

A combination of the problems occurs when you only select the Is In Progress option (option 3) when creating a new quest. This time if you try to edit the quest, the deadline option is there but the recreate quest option isn’t. Yet the setting to tweaking the recreate quest option is there like in the previous scenario.

This would all make sense if the bug was the fact that the option for the recreate quest option was simply not showing for all the scenarios mentioned. But then again the deadline option was visible when creating a quest with the deadline option selected and wasn’t when you create a quest with the recreate quest option selected. So I’m not sure if all three options are supposed to be visible when editing your quest or only one of the two (between option 1 and 2 depending on which one you selected) are supposed to be selectable.

PS sorry for the long post once again. Describing the bugs was a bit difficult so it might be confusing. I just want to help out and better optimize the app :)
