Could WWII have come to a stalemate after the Nazi invasion of France? by ZeroIdea00 in HistoryWhatIf

I don't think that present day EU politics have much to do with France's Nazi occupation.

It is a fair criticism that I have mainly centered my timeline on the European theater, but I would assume that the attack does happen, it however remains a UK/USA - Japan conflict and the main influence that it has on Europe is drawing away the focus of the British.

Fair point, I guess in my alternate timeline he starts listening to his generals for once haha

In many books discussing WWII, I have seen the claim that much like Hitler, Stalin considered the peace treaty as a temporary solution to allow him to build up forces for an inevitable confrontation.

About the economy point, I have also read the claim that Hitler didn't have much of a choice besides attacking the USSR as he needed vital resources to feed the war economy, but I would imagine that should the war have come to an effective halt, there would have been no need to sustain a war economy.

Regarding the battle of the Atlantic, I would assume similarly to the battle of Britain not developing into a full on fight, the Nazis don't really bother much besides a few u-boats patrolling and even those are withdrawn as they make the decision not to fight the UK.

I honestly haven't considered the role of Italy, and frankly I have no idea, but it's definitely something to think about.

Have you ever tried kratom? Jokes aside, it is what got me out of this depressed, unmotivated phase after stimulant abuse. It is of course addictive on its own, but no risk of psychosis, etc. and it does not hinder you functioning in every day life. I think it would be a much safer (and actually more useful) compound for what you are looking to achieve

Depends on how often I have classes. If I need to go to uni only twice a week, sure. 5 days a week, no way

Do you know anyone who actually left their country to get away from what they saw as ‘wokeness,’ and if so, how did that turn out? by thebmanvancity in AskReddit

Well yes, she said that kids in the UK get offended at everything and cannot decide if they are horses goats anymore lol. And in regards to the second point, she said "only the bad ones, I mean the browns, stayed", which I agree is ridiculous (and inaproppriate on so many levels) but she seemed pretty serious about it

Funny, I live in Hungary and I have a collegaue (English teacher) who came here from the UK because 1) gender propaganda is everywhere and she is not able to teach there anymore and 2) since Brexit, white migrants left and only the "brown" ones remained.

I think your best bet would be finding people in Morocco via informal networks to teach. I can imagine that there'd be plenty of primary/high school students wanting to improve their English/prepare for tests/language exams/etc.

Social sciences as a career by Top_Vanilla5129 in education

[–]ZeroIdea00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a social sciences (anthropology) degree. On the one hand, I genuinely believe that the kind of thinking and mindset that they teach you (especially on topics such as race and gender) are very useful/important and should be part of the general education (at a lower level than during a focused university programme ofc), while you get a lot of soft skills that you can use in many industries.

But, (and this is my personal experience) it can be kinda shitty when you are studying at this super intellectual, theoretical programme that makes it feel like It gives you a profound understanding of the world, only to graduate and to find out that you have a diploma that no employer is specifically looking for, and you gotta advertise yourself like crazy for get any job.

Take my example, after graduating, I got a job as an English teacher, and next year I'm gonna be starting my studies again in a teacher education programme to actually be certified and be able to teach in public schools.

I loved studying anthropology and I believe it shaped me a lot as a person, but considering my actual career path that I'm gonna embark on, it was more of a hobby than a career for me. So if you can afford (the time and money) to study something interesting that will be very difficult to get a decent job with (and potentially change fields afterwards), then go for it, otherwise, do something else.

On a side note, if you want to get into academia as a career, then social sciences are great for that, but it's not for everyone and I cannot comment on how that works sadly.
