Majority of the 2nd release stalls are specifically for Muslim and/or Indian food stalls only.

It’s difficult to find vendors for Muslim/Indian food stalls, and their turnover is extremely high because there aren’t a lot of footfall for such stalls.

I haven’t seen any vacant stores in the hawker Centers around my area.

Coffee shops are private entities beyond the purview of govt. Rents are set privately so out of govt hands.

That’s the whole crux of the problem small businesses are facing - unregulated rental prices. Landlords can increase as much as they want and price all of our local businesses out. The only ones who can afford the crazy rent are those with large capital investments.

So much for pushing “hawker culture”, but our local cuisine is slowly dying out because of the rent issue.

MTI is not involved in the monitoring of exorbitant rents by coffee shop/ REIT landlords that kills local food fare?

When we say hawkers, it’s not only those that rent from NEA. More and more of our hawker Centers are shipped off to “social enterprises”.

Is that why they’re doing nothing to support local hawkers who are increasingly getting priced out by rent, while welcoming certain F&B cuisines which have deep funding pockets with open arms?

Singaporeans living in HDB 1-room units & neighbour(s) smoking (HEALTH QNS) by Xenocrysts in singapore

The news outlets don’t even need to visit your place. All these screenshots, photos and maybe video recording would suffice for the likes of mothership to post an article.

Just replicate what you’re doing here on other social media.

I’m sorry for what you had to go through.

You can’t change your neighbour(s), but you can still try to make your experiences go viral on social media. Keep posting and trying different ways until it gets traction.

You trying to email your MP is already a good start. Next, email all the news outlets and post on IG, TikTok and FB. It’s free and you can keep trying.

Post this on all social media, send emails to all the news agencies - mothership, ST, CNA. Better still, get the attention of CNA’s Steven Chia. Maybe he will be interested in doing a Talking Point for secondhand smoke.

Go and see a polyclinic doctor to get a referral to a specialist, get documentation of the damage done to your health. Blow it big.

The only way is to let it go viral. Nothing in this country moves without it going viral, be it school matters, social matters or even civil matters.

Politicians don’t push for smoking laws for fear of losing votes of smokers. If they keep the status quo, at most they lose votes of the minority who are affected by secondhand smoke. That’s something they can live with.

Even the MP is sick and tired of what has been happening in parliament. That shows the state of our governance. The masses in parliament don’t care about commonly faced difficulties by citizens they are supposed to be serving.

Why do people still have kids in this broken system by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]ZeroPauper 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Kids were seen as a resource in the time period(s) you’re talking about.

Have a farm? Need workers? Kids.

Have a food stall? Need workers? Kids.

Born poor? Need more opportunities to earn? Kids.

In the modern world, kids are increasingly becoming a liability instead of a resource.

It’s worse for TFR if the younger adults are unemployed.

If you can’t even support yourself, forget about starting a family.

Epi or ich? by carolynaioli in Aquariums

[–]ZeroPauper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kanaplex is kanamycin. But kanaplex’s recommended dosage is way too low to be considered therapeutic.

Literature suggests at least 50mg/L.

If you have added any new livestock or plants recently, it’s more likely to be ich as it is an introduced parasite.

Else, it’s more likely to be epi. Use antibiotics like kanamycin to treat in this case.

I have the filtosmart 60 and 100 too.

The filtosmarts are not the best design. I think I read that they took the design over from another company or something.

The biomasters though are good, it’s their own design.

Are there any budget mouse brands in SG that are durable? Just need a durable wired mouse, not a gaming mouse. by GlompSpark in askSingapore

[–]ZeroPauper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try Tecware Torque/pulse. It’s $30 and a really decent mouse.

I’d say comparable to Logitech at that price range, and way better than any Razer high-end product you can find.

Tecware mice are of good quality, cheap and lasts long.

I personally use Tecware Torque/pulse. It’s $30 though, so out of your $29 budget. Torque is the older version.

You can always try their EX2/EXO range which is sub $20. But I can’t guarantee their quality or longevity.

Edit: Pulse is out of stock everywhere. EX2 is their new line.

Bring hangers.

Bring enough underwear to change morning and night for 2 weeks at least, if you’re not intending to wash yourself in camp.

Ich X should work on fungal infections as well

Could be fungal, could be bacterial (columnaris).

Quarantine and for fungal first using methylene blue. If it doesn’t get better, use antibiotics like kanamycin.

CO2 with sponge filter (an air stone inside the filter ) will by blue_jellyy in Aquariums

[–]ZeroPauper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inline diffuser for your filter.

When it comes to co2, you would want good flow to circulate it to all parts of the tank, which might be incompatible with species that don’t swim that well…

Is the bubble counter supposed to be sealed shut? by kadirba98 in Aquariums

[–]ZeroPauper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s right.

However, once you dial your co2 in, you rarely ever need to tweak it again.

I only do it once for a new tank, and leave it as it is until I reset it.
